25.01.2022 UPDATE ON MASKS You may have seen on Sunday, Dan Andrews announced the relaxation of mandatory masks in hair and beauty salons. This means, you NO LONGER have to wear a mask to your appointment. Our team also have the option not to wear a mask at work.... Some people may feel mixed about this. You may be clutching on tightly to your beloved face bra. You may be flinging it off like a pair of undies in a night of passion. Whatever you feel, we respect you. With that in mind, if you arrive at your appointment wearing a mask, please allow a mere moment so our team can pop their mask on for the duration of your appointment. No judgment. No inconvenience. We are guided by you. Please note, all existing COVID-19 policies remain firmly in place: You must sanitize your hands on arrival. Your temperature will be taken and recorded. We will check your details are up to date. Please, no extras at your appointment (this includes children) as we are limited to how many people we can have in salon. Drinks will be served in single use cups. Magazines are temporarily unavailable.

20.01.2022 Today was a shit show. There’s no other way to describe it. We had one team member off, one team member received some really hard news about a friend and one team member had to leave suddenly for a family emergency. At the end of the night, the remaining crew pulled up chairs and shared a voddy, lime and soda and took a big breath.... None of our guest’s experience was affected. Everyone backed each other up. Everyone supported each other. This is team work. Picking each other up when we fall down. Standing by each other. Helping. Nurturing. Holding. Grateful tonight, for the team we surround ourselves with.

20.01.2022 We need to talk about @ruby_ahead During Melbourne lockdown 1, our team all experience anxiety, like the rest of our beautiful city. Ruby particularly felt it. Being a young 20 year old at the beginning of her career, it’s pretty confronting to stare down the barrel of COVID.... She came to us one day and said, I’m really not sure if I can do it. This wasn’t through lack of trying. She did everything she could to come back to work, showing up everyday and pushing through. At one point, we thought she might leave us. Ruby decided to try something she hadn’t previously tried. Meditation and mindfulness. She began by one simple step, using the @bloomapp daily for short meditations. Then she started incorporating home workouts. Then mindful activities. Her meditation practice grew and grew to become part of her daily ritual. A couple of weeks ago, Rubes ran a workshop for our team - a task each of our crew have in lockdown. She chose to do a mindful workshop and ran a meditation for our group. She set tasks for us to do self care practices every day for the next week. Everyone showed up, incorporating something special just for us to enjoy alone each day. This lockdown, Ruby has been a constant source of inspiration. Showing up daily, pumping out amazing content to showcase her passion and reminding us all to look after our minds. We are so proud of you Ruby. The way you care for us is amazing. But the way you care for yourself is inspiring. #aheadhb #theaheadteam

Every ‘single use item’ we’ve purchased in 2020 has been from a small, local business.... 15.01.2022 It’s the post we’ve been waiting months to publish. During lockdown, we’ve been showcasing in real time, how our team have been coping in 2020. We’ve shown the highs and the lows in an attempt to normalise the tumultuous year that it’s been.... Our sweet @megan_ahead moved to Melbourne last year, from her home town Perth. Her and one of our fave #aheadhusbands Rory packed up their lives and headed to what would later be known as the COVID naughty corner of Australia. When Western Australia locked their boarders and threw away the key indefinitely, our hearts broke for Megan. When would she see her family? Could she go home for Christmas? How would she cope here, in isolation, in a new city? We’d closed twice this year, for several months at a time, and it seemed that every aspect of normal was disappearing for her. Out of our entire team, Megan was the one we most worried for. During the 2 lockdowns, Megan decided to become a pro at content creation, making some of the sickest reels, and educating the heck out of all of us with IGTVs. She started a side hustle (oh hey @megcrame) creating beautiful handmade pieces. When we reopened the salon, she was buzzing. Not once has she complained. She has remained positive, optimistic and hopeful. Today, the boarders reopened. Megan can now see her family. For a lot of you, this would have been your reality in 2020. So, to anyone who is missing a loved one, today is for you.
