On Sunday 28 February 2021, the customary event by AHEPA NSW in honour of our national poet Kostis Palamas will take place. This year, on the occasion of the Bicentenary of the Greek Revolution, the event will be structured as a symposium around the theme "Kostis Palamas and 1821", and will focus on the writings of the poet that refer to 1821. The event is under the auspices of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, and forms part of the program of the National Committee. Venue: AHEPA Hall, 394-396 Princes' Highway Rockdale NSW. Time: 18:00.

07.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGmnLoCX8BM AHEPA NSW INC last night honoured the 80th anniversary of OXI (NO) of the Hellenic people to the demands of the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. The heroes and heroines of the struggle for Hellenic freedom and democracy, the heroes and heroines who gave everything they had in the mountains and valleys of Epiros and Macedonia, across mainland Hellas, to the island of Krete and beyond. Keynote speaker Mrs Nia Gitsos eloquently spoke... about the resistance to Mussolini's and Hitler's invaders as they attempted but failed to subdue the eternal spirit of Hellenism. Thank you to the Hellenic Art Theatre for hosting our event, to Mr Peter Tsigounis of the RSL NSW Greek Sub-Branch for his recitation of The Ode in English and Hellenic and to Mr Jim Tsolakis of the Australian Hellenic Choir for leading the National Anthems. The video screened is the first Hellenic animated film, celebrating the victories of 1940. Looking forward to an even better event to mark the 80th anniversary of the Second Anzac Corps in March 2021. See more
