03.01.2022 Desperate times need desperate measures. I use a Candle filter in my counter top water filter. The last few days it has got slower and slower, so have cleaned it a couple of times, until I can get to get a new filter possibly tomorrow or Monday. I had a couple of older ones sitting there, so I got to work and made another way I could filter more water. This is what I came up with. I started off with two vinegar bottles. Not happy with using plastics, so adjusted that... to use a couple of glass bottles for the base, still thinking how I can do the top without plastic. The filter looks dirty but just stained rather than dirty as is well cleaned. All I did was put a hole in a lid, and the bottom of the vinegar container with a soldering iron, cut down the container so I could fit the candle in it from the top, and inserted the candle as you would the ceramic filter. This then sits on top of the bottle. Bingo - problem solved :)
