18.01.2022 Trees have a natural ability to survive through bushfires and extreme heat climates. Even when the tree dies and falls over, the outside of the wood will naturally close, trapping any moisture inside. The only way to counter this is to split your wood, and expose the inner core to let it naturally dry out. We have a host of 'how to' videos on our website so you know EXACTLY how to treat your firewood. . . . .... . . #wood #woodheating #heating #homes #natural #land #trees #fire #woodfire See more

08.01.2022 Did you know the moisture content of your wood matters? Moisture content should be in the range of 12-20%. Hence the need to buy wood in summer months and stack in an air-dry mode, e.g. Roof cover and open sides. If you do burn wood with over 20% moisture, your heater will not work correctly, producing less heat as the energy from the fire is used to remove moisture and not produce heat for your house. . . . .... . . #wood #woodheating #heating #homes #natural #land #trees #fire #woodfire See more

01.01.2022 Last week, crews from Koondrook Fire Brigade, Cohuna Fire Brigade and Kerang Fire Brigade worked alongside Fire and Rescue NSW on a chimney fire in Koondrook. T...hankfully the blaze was noticed early by the resident and crews were able to minimise damage to the property. Have you cleaned your chimney or flue recently? If you're lighting up your fireplace this weekend, ensure you check your chimney. Use a torch to check for creosote build-up or obstructions like bird nests. Have your chimney professionally cleaned annually. Koondrook Fire Brigade
