05.01.2022 HOW TO NAIL EKA PADA GALAVASANA (Flying Pigeon Pose) To set up this challenging arm balance, you need a bold external rotation in the hip of the front leg. This... allows you to bring your shin parallel to the floor, creating a stable support to rest your arms. In the rear leg that lifts, super strong activation of the hamstrings and glutes is needed! If a straight leg feels too hard, or you find yourself tipping forward, you can keep your knee bent and draw your heel towards your seat. The key to really finding lift off is to shift awareness to the deep core muscles of the abdomen, back and pelvic floor. The more you engage your back and core muscles, the less weight in the wrists. Keep breathing through the process! This will lighten the pose immensely giving you the freedom to hover, float and fly!
