19.01.2022 Ensuring your expectations are clear & most importantly understood is a vital part of effective communications, particularly in the workplace (given Australian workplace legislation) and especially at times of recruitment. 16.01.2022 Too often we don't express our expectations clearly - whether in our work or private lives. Managing expectations effectively, whether your own or those of others, is a learned skill and requires regular focus and practise. Plan ahead when communicating expectations and use quantifiers and qualifiers whenever/wherever possible.

15.01.2022 Hi! Well have finally jumped into the FB pool... I know took me ages! And to be honest this doesn't mean I am swimming yet, so please be patient and don't hesitate to throw me a life jacket/life line :) That would be awesome and most appreciated!!

14.01.2022 Resilient teams are made from resilient people - people who are open and willing to change, people who are able to bounce back from adversity. Is this you? Your company? I explore this topic further in my latest blog which you can find at: https://blogahr.wordpress.com/2016/06/13/bounce-back/

12.01.2022 I’m often asked what is the most important skill to have as a manager. Many spring to mind, however the ability to people read is the one that stands out for me. Ever wonder why you just haven’t been able to connect with someone? Ever been in a situation where you feel your not being heard? Want to improve your management skills? People reading requires you to be highly observant, be totally in the moment (i.e. truly focused) and to use all the communication skills in your r...epertoire, especially your active listening skills. People reading is a life-time skill that will serve you well. Find out more at: http://ow.ly/lgVe30egQvw See more

10.01.2022 One of the most underrated and complex skills you can ever exercise is that of expectation management, both that of your own expectations & those of others. Managing expectations is something we can all work on, every day! Check my recent blog ... 06.01.2022 Gong Xi Fa Cai ! Happy Chinese New Year(CNY)! CNY is my time to reflect and plan.As this is a 'fire' year I'll need this time to prepare for the challenges of the year ahead. How about you? There's more on my blog post... https://blogahr.wordpress.com//cny-2017-reflections-befor/

06.01.2022 I'll admit it... I've dropped the FB ball BIG time! 1,001 reasons but that's no excuse. I'm such a 'gunna' girl - I'm going to do this... I'm going to do that...& whilst I had every intention of keeping up to date with FB sharing | responding | interacting; work hijacked me, or hijacked my intentions. I took solace in this quote - "You can do anything, but you can't do everything" ... but now I am adding the caveat... "but at least DO SOMETHING!"

06.01.2022 As an HR professional it is way too easy for me to fall into ‘HR speak’, corporate jargon or if I am being brutally honest ‘word wang’* is something that plenty of us use each and every day without giving it too much thought. Sometimes a concerted effort is needed to strip away the layers and get right down to plain English -or whatever your first language may be- particularly when: giving directions, stating expectations, at times of discipline or accountability, being empathetic. You may need to plan ahead, or run scenarios or wording by others. To find out more click here: http://ow.ly/1hA930et9dm
