14.01.2022 When you fold, the ritual and the act of creation is more important than the final result. When your hands are busy your heart is serene" - credited to Akira Yoshizawa, the grandfather of modern origami. THANK YOU TO everyone who submitted an entry into the origami competition to win the Gift vouchers... It was unbelievably difficult to choose the winners! There were many entries, by so many people who just LOVE origami, just like AHSI Institute.... But as always, we need to choose the winners. 3rd place goes to our our student Manpreet Kaur. Thank you for sending beautiful Origami flowers 2nd place goes to our Trainer Saadiyah for sending through beautiful and touching Origami art. But the biggest CONGRATULATIONS goes to our student Sahil Kumar who won the 1st place! Sahil shared with us a charming story and also beautiful Origami art. As Sahil said: I chose to portray this in my origami artwork where the caterpillar represents myself reaching for the leaves. The leaves represent the opportunity that life in Sydney offers me. I used a tree branch and have painted it black which represent the challenges that I have experienced in life and have climbed my way up to seize the opportunities. The different colours of the origami butterfly represent my different skills and a nod to the current season of spring, the butterfly itself portrays my personal transformation/growth from a caterpillar Thank you Sahil for sharing these beautiful thoughts. Congratulations on winning $100 AUD Gift Voucher.

12.01.2022 October is the month when students will be sharing their interesting facts, stories about their country. This Friday, I am very happy to share one of our student's short story about Punjab and her painting AHSI hopes you will enjoy learning more about our students and their diversity. ... "I am sharing my small story with you through my art/painting so I belongs to the India where two-fifths of Punjab’s population is engaged in the agricultural sector, which accounts for a significant segment of the state’s gross product. Punjab produces an important portion of India’s food grain and contributes a major share of the wheat and rice stock held by the Central Pool. In this painting I tried to present village people and how they work by themselves to survive. Painting shows some animal around, a lady making thread from cotton with some old wooden spinner (called charkha in punjab) two ladies pulling water from the well and on the other side one (ancient well used with bull to get water) tindan which is used by the farmers to give water to the crops and last thing a couple is making wooden charpai. So, all together I am missing all these activities which I was used to do when I was there so it’s been more than 6 years now I didn't experience it. Most interesting thing is people like to live in joint family and as I have experience we like to do every work together with family with happiness and we enjoy it"
