14.01.2022 What is it? Wednesday There are many different types of rashes that are caused by many different things. A common one we see as hand therapists can be contact dermatitis. Something that has irritated the skin and causes a rash. It could be a material brace or a cotton liner or webril that lines a cast. This can be treated by: -Removing the irritant and letting the skin air out... -Using a low dose corticosteroid to help settle the rash and itchy, scratchy feelings. The rash in the photo was treated by an over-the-counter low dose corticosteroid but some may need to see a doctor for a prescription. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are concerned regarding a rash. #handtherapy #itchyscratchy #irritations #skin #whatisit?
