17.01.2022 Tonight the Australian Council met (over teleconference, safely observing social distancing) and officially confirmed the cancellation of the 2020 National Championships in Ballarat VIC. In exciting news, the Championships will return to Ballarat in August 2021, followed by TAS in 2022. Wishing every bowler a safe and healthy 2020, lets get through this and we will be back bigger and better next year.
09.01.2022 With the concern and uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the AIBBC acknowledges the concern from participants of indoor bowls. The AIBBC will meet in coming weeks to discuss the feasibility of rhe National Championships, scheduled to be held in Ballarat in August 2020. The AIBBC is not the controlling body of local or state competitions, but we urge local association committees and state bodies to stay abreast of all federal and state government guidelines and advice. The health and safety of all members and participants, including players, officials, and volunteers, should always be the top priority in any decisons made.
08.01.2022 With the winter like conditions for us Victorians at the moment one might think we were right in the middle of the 2020 Indoor Bowls season! Fear not, our frie...nds from across the ditch in New Zealand have our appetite for high quality bowls well and truly sorted this weekend as the North Island takes on the South Island. For the winner they receive the bragging rights and the Kevin Eddy Memorial Trophy, defeat is simply not an option! Historically, the North Island have won this event on most occasions but from all reports from my NZ correspondents the South Island are ready, willing and very keen to knock them off this year. There is a plethora of current and former NZ representatives in both sides so I am sure you will enjoy the quality of bowls on display. Best of all the coverage is sure to be top class with Pits TV (the same crew who broadcast the International Test Series in Invercargill last year) bringing all the action to us throughout the day. After some close battles in recent years, this year’s event could be a real rip snorter, so please feel free to enjoy it all tomorrow via the link below. Times: Round 1 - 8am Round 2 - 12pm Round 3 - 5pm Live stream:
