16.01.2022 An Urgent Message from Ambassador Quinlan Dear AIBC Members and friends, The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Gary Quinlan AO, has issued this urgent announcement regarding Australians in Indonesia:... Dear Australian business community in Indonesia, I am reaching out urgently to convey the Australian Governments very strong advice that Australians should return to Australia now. Please read the latest advice from the Australian Governments Smartraveller website. There are very few commercial options remaining to leave Indonesia. Come back to Australia while you still can. The Australian Government has no plans to evacuate you. If you decide to stay, you probably wont be able to return to Australia for many months. Think about your and your familys health. Critical medical care in Indonesia is significantly below Australian standards. The Australian Government cannot guarantee you access to medical services or a safe exit if the situation in Indonesia gets worse. Please circulate this to your Australian networks in Indonesia. Please follow the Australian Embassys social media accounts for regular updates on flight options departing Indonesia. Please also endeavour to stay in close contact with your Embassy contacts or through emails to [email protected] and [email protected]. For updated Indonesian travel advice, subscribe to www.smartraveller.gov.au. Yours sincerely, Gary Quinlan Australian Ambassador to Indonesia
