19.01.2022 For our email customers please be aware of any suspicious emails that may be disguised as if they are from internal employees or from us. We are aware of an increased number of attempts to phish details from email users such as their login details. If you notice emails that contain suspicious links or attachments, remind your staff to avoid clicking on any links. Note that these emails are NOT legitimate emails. In the case of emails that appear to be from us, note that we ne...ver ask for customers to login to retrieve emails, or to verify their identity for example via email. A few additional reminders include: - Never share personal information when asked to do so in an email format such as passwords. - Double-check attachments before you click or download them - Watch for misspellings and strange greetings (Hello Madam!) - Be suspicious of emails that evoke a sense of urgency and ask for your immediate action - When it comes to bank transfers be extra vigilant - When in doubt - Please forward the email to us or a trusted 3rd party IT provider to review If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

10.01.2022 Is your business's online presence ready for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) taking effect May 25? In short, the GDPR is privacy legislation passed in the EU that is intended to better protect the privacy of EU citizens as they interact with businesses both domestically and internationally. The websites and digital services that EU citizens interact with is the dominant focus of the legislation, and in our opinion represents the greatest legal exposure for typ...ical Australian businesses. We recommend that all businesses audit their online presence to ensure they are compliant and seek legal advice as information such as this is not intended to be a substitute for legal advice. For most businesses, we believe there are 3 likely areas of compliance risk, these are your website collecting analytics (traffic reports), any forms on your website that are storing data of users, and mailing lists such as those facilitated through MailChimp. Businesses should take the greatest care in complying with the GDPR where their website offers a European language other than English or offers goods or services in a currency such as the Euro or English Pound. Some E-commerce websites may offer these features by default. It is important to note that under the GDPR, EU citizens may not need to be physically situated in their country of origin to be protected by it. The following Australian Government information sheet provides an excellent overview of the GDPR as it relates to Australian businesses: https://www.oaic.gov.au//privacy-business-resource-21-aust

02.01.2022 In the last 24 hours, several clients in different industries have reported being contacted via their website regarding their site's lack of support for screen readers. A technology which people with visual impairment use to interact with their computers. These messages are spam and are being mass mailed, they are not legitimate. The fact that these messages, which suggest that sites are unusable with a screen reader, are being sent via contact forms on the actual sites in q...uestion; by a person claiming to be visually impaired to the degree that a screen reader is required demonstrates this. All websites built with current web standards have a high degree of compatibility with screen readers. However, true compliance with accessibility standards is a separate service to website design and is not commonly invested in by most businesses. If any clients would like to discuss improving accessibility standards for their website we can assist with this. Please let us know if you have any questions, and we will be happy to answer them.
