17.01.2022 Physical activity is good for your health at every age. If you have never been active, starting a regular physical activity now may improve your endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility. Being active may help you live on your own for a longer time and keep you healthy. We know that being active can be hard if your mobility is limited or if you have serious health problems. However, you can find activities to meet your needs. Slowly raise your arms or legs, for example, ...may help you when done on a regular, repeated basis. You can also pick an activity you enjoy and start with small, specific goals, such as a 10-minute walk, and slowly increase the total amount of time and number of days you are active. In every activity that you choose, always remember to follow these safety tips: 1. Ask your health care provider about ways you can safely increase the amount of physical activity you do now. 2. Take time to warm up and cool down. 3. Start slowly and build up to more intense activity. 4. Wear a sturdy pair of shoes. 5. Stop if you have pain, become dizzy, or feel short of breath. 6. Drink water. Stay physically active!

14.01.2022 At Aids for Daily Living, we are keen on helping you maintain an active and independent lifestyle. The healthy living tips that we have for you today is choosing food wisely. The key to staying active and independent is that you give your body the right nutrients and maintain a healthy weight. One of the ways to maintain a healthy life is to make the right decisions in choosing healthy food. In order to do so, always look for important nutrients and make sure you eat a variet...y of food. Remember to choose foods that are high in fiber and low in sodium/salt. Also, it's important that you have enough vitamin D. Your plate should look like a rainbow, which should include: Lean protein (lean meats. seafood, eggs, beans) Fruits and vegetables (think orange, red, green and purple) Whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat pasta) Low-fat dairy (milk and its alternatives) Eating healthy does not necessarily need to be boring, you can enjoy the fun of eating while at the same time maintain a good health!

12.01.2022 Dear customers, are you planning to travel soon? If yes, don't let your luggage bother you! Packing light is so important - we, most of the time don’t need much but take away too much. Why do we do that? Because the more grown up we are, the more we need! At Aids for Daily Living, we think that there is no reason to travel heavy for unnecessary reasons! So here are some packing tips for your next trip. To lighten your load:... - Take fewer clothing items and do laundry more often - Instead of trying to haul a big bag, try to fit it all in a roll-aboard suitcase - So as not to wrestle with several bulky items, try to come up with ideas to smoothly carry your luggage. For example, if you bring a second bag, make it a small one that stacks neatly (or even attaches) on top of your wheeled bag. Have a wonderful and safe trip! #TuesdayTips #AidsforDailyLiving #AFDL #MakingLifeEasier
