25.01.2022 Week one of re-opening completed, without too much drama, although the NBN dropping out due to local works was an unexpected and temporary problem. Same arrangements are in place for coming weeks, with changes in the wings (we hope). Thanks to our team of volunteers and calm Office Manager for smoothing the transition, and to all members for their understanding and co-operation.

24.01.2022 DEADLINE EXTENDED.... Enter your family history book now for the Alexander Henderson Award 'for best Australian family history' or the Don Grant Award 'for best Australian biography with family history focus'. 24.01.2022 A question from a member... "Is anyone aware of the BDM Registry request page for Certificates? On the front page it states that reduction in fees is still available, however further down it says they are unable to complete requests as no staff are in attendance. Does anyone know any more?"

24.01.2022 Sad to say the Resource Centre is again closed, and will remain so until the current restrictions ease. It has been great to see the members who were able to make use of the booking system and who have been able to continue their research onsite. Members will be kept in touch by email and social media. Sort your photographs, check the labels on your folders, back up your digital files, stay well, stay safe.

24.01.2022 The Resource Centre will re-open from next Monday (November 16th) in a limited way. Visit the website and book your spot now (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 10am to1pm).

23.01.2022 ....from the Editor...... The (Vol XVII, No 3) September issue of The Genealogist magazine will be out later than expected this year. Pandemic restrictions have delayed the printing and packaging but the issue should be in letter boxes in October, fingers crossed!

19.01.2022 Did you catch the 15 minutes on Radio National yesterday, speaking with Dr Erica Cervini explaining her PhD thesis which features research into her great grandmother? You might find some of her sources to be of interest for your own research. Listen to the podcast here https://www.abc.net.au//how-your-family-history-c/12497166 and look to the end of the article for those links to help you.

17.01.2022 Studying old photographs is one way to trace family members through the generations, particularly if you're lucky enough to be able to identify the subjects! Are the family ears obvious? Is that the same dress her sister wore? Dating the photographs is a tricky process, but a short FREE downloadable .pdf file from the site below might help. Find the file under the ACADEMY tab and download it to your computer. No copyright and no charge. https://www.thephotoalchemist.biz.../academy Contact us for our own in-house photo restoration service RENOVARE, available through the Office.
