16.01.2022 Uchideshi. Ese día tendría mi última práctica de mi (corto) período como Uchideshi en Iwama. Hoy, unos veinte años más tarde, sigo tan flaco como entonces, pero... mi pelo está gris y mi rostro está más severo. El Maestro en la foto, no creo que necesite presentación Era de mañana, muy temprano, me despedí de Sensei en ese momento, pues él no conduciría la práctica nocturna. La foto la tomó Mark Larson sensei, quien, por entonces, vivía con su esposa, Yuko san, a cinco minutos a pie, del Dojo. Saito sensei se correspondía, exactamente, con la descripción que Mark sensei hizo de él alguna vez: Estricto en el tatami, cálido en el trato familiar. En adelante (y, seguramente, sin seguir un riguroso orden cronológico), agregaré algunos apuntes sobre la vida de Uchideshi: diferentes momentos y diferentes experiencias con los Sensei con quienes practiqué y conviví. Today, twenty years later, I’m still as skinny as I was then, but my hair is gray and my face is more "severe." About the Master in the picture, I don't think he needs an introduction... It was morning, very early, I said goodbye to Sensei then, because he would not conduct the night practice. The photo was taken by Mark Larson sensei, who, at the time, lived with his wife, Yuko- san, five minutes walk from the Dojo. Morihiro Saito sensei corresponded, exactly, with the description that Mark sensei once made of him: "Strict on the tatami, warm in family treatment" From now on (and, surely, without a rigorous chronological order), I’ll add some "sketches on the life of Uchideshi": different moments & different experiences with different Sensei with whom I practiced and lived. 11.01.2022 Happy New Year to all and just a quick announcement. With regards to the current COVID situation in NSW/Sydney, barring any changes in restrictions or advisory from the NSW Government the North Sydney dojo will re-open for training on the 11th of January 2021. All the usual COVID precautions and best practices will still apply eg. stay home if you are unwell, clean gi, sanitise your hands pre/post training and remember to do your electronic check in at the entrance. 01.01.2022 The Completion Ceremony of Tanabe City's new Budokan was celebrated in Tanabe City (Wakayama Prefecture) on October 24th (Sat). The "Ueshiba Morihei Memorial Mu...seum" was established as an annex of the new Budokan, so visitors can easily access information about the Founder's life and achievements. Aikido Hombu Dojo-cho Ueshiba Mitsuteru attended the ceremony as Doshu Ueshiba Moriteru's representative. Dojo-cho received the letter of appointment from the Mayor of Tanabe City (Mr. Manago Mitsutoshi) on behalf of Doshu, who had been appointed as Honorary Director of the Ueshiba Morihei Memorial Museum. Afterwards, Dojo-cho read Doshu's greeting letter. 1024
