25.01.2022 Congratulations to Angela, Jacob, Sybilla and Connor - grading tests at end of last year ... belts and certificates presented Tuesday night. Great job, well done!

25.01.2022 After 3 months of Zoom classes, it was so good to get together and train outdoors and in person. A tinge cool to start with but the weather got better as the afternoon went on! And the lake is looking a picture. We're planning to do it all again next Saturday so hoping the weather is just as good. All welcome!

25.01.2022 Big warm welcome to the newest member of the Orange Dojo family - Theo Lance Hartsukyer. Big congratulations to Reece and Court and the whole family!

24.01.2022 And to complete the kyu gradings collection: ikkyu! https://www.youtube.com//UCdjzsfOKPaAvUs4efCM69tg/playlists

23.01.2022 New water bottle ready for resumption of training ... whenever that may be hope you're all staying safe, healthy and active

22.01.2022 Great weekend's training with Hiroshi Yamamoto Sensei in Sydney - powerful and precise, and some really interesting variations on techniques. Congratulations to Rachel on her shodan grading, and to John and Connor on their first gasshuku. And big thanks to West Ryde dojo for hosting!

21.01.2022 Just a reminder that our normal school term training schedule starts again tomorrow - Tuesday 28th January - with juniors and teenagers at 5.30pm. Tomorrow's training will be the last time Portia San trains with us before heading off to uni next weekend. Hope you can join us to celebrate this special milestone.

21.01.2022 More scenes from Frienshuku 5 and the Orange Dojo dinner at the Greenhouse ...

20.01.2022 We've completed our first term back in the dojo with everyone safe and well - great work everybody! We now have 2 weeks of school holidays and while there are no classes for juniors, the 6.30pm classes for youth and adults on Tuesdays and Thursdays are on (starting tonight!). We'll have different teaching arrangements but the 4 classes will proceed - 6.30 to 8 pm, be there by 6.10pm to help set up.

20.01.2022 Fabulous online and in dojo Friendshuku (aka Zoomshuku). Wonderful to connect with our wider group and train simultaneously! Hearing all about everyone's year was really special. Perhaps next Friendshuku we will be in the same space but if not, this is the next best thing.

20.01.2022 Celebrating the end of the aiki year! Outdoor games, dinner and board games as well as Javier and Will on guitar. Great night all round. Looking forward to training again in the new year - 14th Jan.

19.01.2022 Hi all and happy Easter to you and your familes. The junior grading syllabus is now available on our You Tube channel - for you to review and practice (where you can) while we're not able to train together: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdjzsfOKPaAvUs4efCM69tg/

19.01.2022 Wonderful to have two young women in the dojo last night. Thanks to Hannah and Portia for the lovely energy. Great to have more women on the mat. Fun night of training.

17.01.2022 Training this afternoon at Lake Canobolas - cool climate jo dosa (a nice drop) 5 degree max and refreshing 19km breeze ... invigorating! Weather permitting, we'll do it all again next Saturday ...

16.01.2022 Last training at the lake this afternoon before we return to the dojo on Tuesday. No pictures of training just the lake but have to say, training outdoors has been so good, considering making it a semi-regular feature of the AKO Training calendar. Let us know if that sounds good to you.

15.01.2022 We tried to train out at the lake again today but the weather just wouldn't play ... fine enough when we arrived but after a hot choc from the cafe and relocating to the other side, the rain came in one minute after we got set up - can't begrudge the rain and the lake was looking beautiful in a moody sort of way

15.01.2022 The people you meet! Adam San aka Adam of Albury aka the Hawaiin Fifty Cent aka former Balmain Boy and long-term Aikidoka friend ... so good to catch up at Woodfordia

14.01.2022 Hi all and hope you had a great Easter. Videos of the Gokyu and Yonkyu grading syllabus are now available - best to view through Playlists as they're in two parts due to size. Happy viewing and hope they help with your grading preparation until we get back on the mat: https://www.youtube.com/c/UCdjzsfOKPaAvUs4efCM69tg/featured

14.01.2022 Ginger bread dojo and ginger ninja to start F4

14.01.2022 As part of our return to training, we must have a COVID Safe Training Plan in place. Our plan uses a NSW Government template and is based on one developed by the Martial Arts Industry Association. We'll keep a hard copy at the Dojo if you wish to read it in that format before any class after we resume training on Tuesday (21st).

13.01.2022 Dojo set and ready to go for resumption of training tonight. You'll need to sign in, use the hand sanitiser and keep to the right going in and out. See you tonight!

09.01.2022 Dear friends Its with regret that due to the COVID-19 crisis, we advise that Aikido all classes are cancelled until the end of the April school holidays with a review to be done at that time. This decision was taken out of our hands when the Uniting Church recommended to its congregations to cancel all gatherings on UC properties including hall hire to outside groups. The local Church Council met on Thursday night and agreed to adopt the recommendation. While its disappoint...ing, we respect the churchs reasons for making the decision. In the meantime, we recommend that you keep exercising and stay healthy. In the age of social distancing, some options include: Individual practice of Aikido exercises including weapons Yoga Walking or running Bike riding If you would like to talk through any techniques (in preparation for your next grading), give us a call and we can make an arrangement to meet up. Were also hoping to use the downtime in April to make a video demonstrating many of the techniques in the junior grading syllabus and in the first three gradings of the adult syllabus. Stay tuned on progress with that project. On the issue of fees, anyone who has paid full fees for term 1 has two options: * request a pro-rata credit to carry over to next term * request a pro-rata refund. Please let us know which option you would prefer. We'll miss you over the next 5 weeks but wish you good health and happiness in these uncertain times. Yours in Aiki Fiona and Stephen

09.01.2022 Sankyu grading syllabus also now available - for you Patrick in particular :-) : https://www.youtube.com/c/UCdjzsfOKPaAvUs4efCM69tg/featured Watching through Playlists recommended if you want to watch all the way through.

08.01.2022 Training this afternoon at Lake Canobolas - cool climate jo dosa (a nice drop) 5 degree max and refreshing 19km breeze ... invigorating! Weather permitting, we'll do it all again next Saturday ...

08.01.2022 Just 12 days to go to F5 ... Javier looking forward to meeting you all

06.01.2022 If things went as planned, today we would have been in Japan celebrating both Takeda Shihan's 80th birthday and the 40th anniversary of his first visit to teach Aikido to us in Australia. Looking forward to the day that we can gather together, travel freely and hug each other celebrating everything. Until then be safe, active and happy.

05.01.2022 Wonderful training at Tengoku Dojo yesterday morning to mark the end of 22 years of Aikido practice in that beautiful space. Thank you Mike and Kerrie for all your generosity, hospitality and inspiration over that time.

05.01.2022 That's what 10 years of ukemi does for a t-shirt we need another trip to Japan to replace it, but anyone's guess when that will be possible we'll just have to keep rolling in the meantime

05.01.2022 Training times during school term are: Tuesday 5.30 to 6.30pm - Juniors Tuesdays 5.30 to 7pm - Teenagers Tuesdays 6.30 to 8pm - Adults Thursdays 6.30 to 8pm - Adults... Please 'comment' on this post if you are planning to come along for the first time or send us an email at: [email protected] Have a great day!

03.01.2022 Paddy San will be there!

03.01.2022 Welcome back to Orange Paddy San ... it's been great having you back on the mat these past 2 weeks. Looking forward to many years of training to come.

03.01.2022 Friendshuku 5 now less than 3 weeks away!

03.01.2022 YES! It's time to dust off your dogi because we are recommencing training in the dojo at last! First class Tuesday 21st July; 5.30pm for the kids and 6.30pm for the adults. Come early to sanitize and have your temperature taken. More info to come via email and website. We are so HAPPY!

02.01.2022 When we originally closed the Dojo due to COVID-19, we said we'd review by the end of the April school holidays. That time has arrived but the Public Health Order restrictions have not eased to date. So we obviously won't be resuming training this week, or for some weeks to come by the looks of things. But we'll let you know as soon as can. Stay healthy and active.
