15.01.2022 Dear New York Aikikai and USAF family and friends. We were devastated to receive the news of Donovan Waite Shihan’s recent passing. He was a tremendous soul, who always had an enigmatic presence both on and off the mat.... Some of the Aikido students from down under had the great privilege of attending his classes both in New York and in Philly, and sharing his stories after training. He was a huge inspiration, both as a teacher and a person. He will be greatly missed. Love, Aikido WA

11.01.2022 Nick did an amazing job yesterday of repairing the dojo floor. A full afternoon on non stop carpentry that I am sure will withstand the training that will shortly commence.

10.01.2022 Congratulations to Hugh Derham Sensei, recently appointed a Shihan by Hombu dojo. Congratulations also to Ruedi and Vivienne Etter Senseis, who were admitted to the rank of 6th Dan this January. With Jack Sato Sensei, we now have four 6th dans, two of whom have a Shihan qualification, teaching in Western Australia.

09.01.2022 Leederville dojo is now having regular training Monday to Friday mornings 6.30-7.30; also evenings at 6.30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. At the specific request of the TTC there are some restrictions in view of the Covid 19. We have been asked to set an example for our NSW and Victorian colleagues who have not been so fortunate with the virus as we. However we are practising paired exercises (with weapons and no personal physical contact), throwing uke using a weapon, falling holding weapons and without, solo; Paired exercises weapon/weapon are all allowed and happening. We continue to have no personal physical contact in line with the national guidelines as training starts to return with the Covid problem. There are good challenges to be had, and much enjoyable training happening. It is time to come back to the dojo and join in.

I think many people are hesitant to leave their homes everyday, let alone step foot into a dojo.
