21.01.2022 Lower the elbows and keep them close. The body should move as a unit. When elbows rise-the upper body becomes a factor. This is a weaker position. In Aikido we... move with our centers, our lower body takes priority. The hands originate from the hips, we raise them like we raise our Aiki Ken. We do not lift (that involves biceps.) When we keep the elbows in the body and arm movement originate from the hips and center. The wrist movement is supported and maximized by this structure, it aligns the body from the center to the feet. It creates a strong grounded position. Tuck the elbows in.

21.01.2022 We had some great training with special guest teacher, Takahashi sensei. Takahashi Sensei taught and reinforced the important Aikido principal of Manaka( center of your body), Gravity and Extention( use of forearm muscles= no strength involved). If you watch any technique in Aikido closely, you will see those principals in every movement. Thank you Tatsu sensei for sharing your knowledge and techniques.

10.01.2022 Is there more to Aikido than just a martial art? http://aikidojournal.com//lighting-the-spark-an-interview/

10.01.2022 One of the key principles in Aikido is taking balance. Kuzushi is established by the body positioning (tai Sabaki) of nage, not through insisting, pulling or pu...shing. Once Ukes center is offset he is easily influenced. If Uke feels heavy or no action is reflected in his body, we have probably moved incorrectly. Our posture maybe perfect, our extension exceptional, our kokyu beautiful, but if balance is not taken and our body position is incorrect, we will not be able to (or are not doing) the technique correctly. Check body positioning first, take balance, and then proceed. Aikido is about tai sabaki.
