25.01.2022 1984, I think. Recognise anyone?

25.01.2022 What you looking at?

25.01.2022 Awesome training on Dan Harden's material this morning, lead by the very capable Michael Dreyer. Thanks Michael, a great tune up leading to the Aussie assault in Hawaii with Dan in December.

25.01.2022 It's done! Two weeks of training wrapped up. So much to practice and clearly defined principles to follow. Awesome instruction Bill Gleason Sensei, thank you! Also thanks to Ann Reeki for the use of AikiLife dojo today. Beautiful dojo, thanks.

24.01.2022 Kanpai Tengoku dojo.

23.01.2022 What a fantastic weekend. Wonderful teaching from Suzuki Sensei, 11 excellent gradings, and connections that extended beyond just training.

22.01.2022 Disciplines with common principles. It is very difficult to learn coordinated whole body movement. Reflexively the upper body will take charge. The arms tend t...o move separately from the legs. The feet may move but the hips may stay stagnant. If we are strong we can do techniques 'successfully' for quite some time. However, in the face of injury, contending with a bigger/stronger Uke, or simply, due the aging process, we may eventually have to revise our approach. Better balance, a good sense of proprioception, and body coordination can all be learned in time with practice and focused awareness. Eventually, when finely tuned, the fingers and toes, nose and center all simultaneously point/move in the same direction. Advanced practioners may send their chi out in a certain direction before the body follows. See more

22.01.2022 Last ever evening class at Balmain dojo after 31 years! An amazing milestone. But never fear, Wednesday evenings will be at Redfern PCYC next year, and Balmain Saturdays will continue on!

21.01.2022 Fantastic training today with Yasuyuki Suzuki Sensei. Soft and powerful movement. Congratulations to Zolst, Frank and John for completing good shodan gradings

21.01.2022 Dan Harden taking ukemi for Hiroshi Kato - Dan will be back in Hawaii this December: December 10th - 12th & 14th - 15th Sangenkai Hawaii Workshop with Dan Harde...n in Kona, Hawaii https://aikidosangenkai.org/news.html

20.01.2022 No word to describe Bill's instruction today but sublime! Building up from basic principles to knife technique (which just showed us how badly we apply our principles!). Fantastic representation from all kinds of Aikido styles; Aikikai, Iwama, Kokikai, AKI, and others. All here to claim the knowledge that is rightfully theirs as Aikidoka

20.01.2022 Thanks Rachael Crompton for use of White Wolf dojo tonight for Bill Gleason Sensei. Fantastic training again in a nice intimate setting.

19.01.2022 Beautiful evening in Canberra. Nice to have a few bevvies and talk Aiki stuff

19.01.2022 Tonight's class was on basic structure and putting the principles into the movement of the structure. This is a warm up to the weekend as we will be doing more technique, so Bill Sensei wanted us to ensure we have the structure and principles in play.

17.01.2022 Today we had our annual get together for Aikido Kenkyukai Australia. Normally it is a training at Mittagong, but this time each dojo got together and joined by Zoom. Aikido South Sydney came together with Aikido West Ryde. Steve Seymour lead the first session then each dojo taught for a short period. Surprisingly it actually worked well and everyone enjoyed it. Thanks Jeff Standen and Aikido Sydney.

11.01.2022 "If you try to create power..your judgement will err..."

11.01.2022 Tonight was my last night training at PCYC South Sydney. In two weeks time I will be moving to Lennox Head near Byron Bay. Hirano-san will be taking over as head instructor. His martial knowledge combined with the internal power concepts we have been working on will be an excellent combination. I'm sure students will thoroughly enjoy the training and learn lots. Thanks to everyone for turning up, and especially to Steve Seymour for instructing.

11.01.2022 Never give up!!!
