23.01.2022 Sadly we have to say goodbye to Deb our Therapy Assistant this week! After working with us for a year and being heavily involved in supporting the transition of clients from the Stockton Centre, Deb has decided to pursue additional training in her role with Health. Deb is an amazing person and the type of team member you always want around. We will miss her very much and have many fond memories from her time with Aim High. We do have some exciting additions to our team coming up though so it's not all bad news, watch this space as our books will be open again very soon!

23.01.2022 Aimee recently sat down with Jamie, a Speech Pathologist who has embarked on a journey of interviews with health professionals to prepare kindy kids for their first year of school next year. COVID has changed the way we do everything so this was a great opportunity to share some practical tips for new school parents. Follow Jamie on instagram for her full series Nourished.babes

13.01.2022 To all our dietitians and dietitian colleague's! Jenny, Camille, Jacqui, Leah, Aimee

12.01.2022 COVID-19 MEET THE TEAM! Our ray of sunshine, Jenny Jenny became interested in nutrition through her personal experience of having her first child, who was physically unable to eat due to swallowing difficulties. This set the stage for her to ultimately pursue further studies and a career in dietetics.... Jenny graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2014 with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with Distinction. It was always Jenny’s goal to apply her knowledge and lived experiences to work with vulnerable persons within the disability sector. Shortly after graduating Jenny was fortunate enough to secure employment with the state government disability services, providing clinical services to adults living with a significant disability in the large residential care setting. Here, she worked within an experienced multidisciplinary team of specialised allied health professionals which gave her an excellent grounding in how various disciplines interact to optimise health goals for each individual. Following government restructures Jenny moved onto a large NGO again working in disability services, until she finally found her niche at Aim High, providing services to participants of the NDIS. Jenny is our longest serving employee and is such a valuable and respected member of our team. What Jenny enjoys the most about being a dietitian is seeing how overall health and wellbeing improves when we get nutrition right. She has a particular interest in enteral feeding, however, also enjoys getting creative with food and experimenting with texture modification to find tasty, nutritious, and practical solutions for people living with dysphagia.

12.01.2022 You can't miss us now! Thanks Onpoint Signage

09.01.2022 We support so many people with epilepsy. There are so many types and causes and some are very rare. Clinical trials are so important.

09.01.2022 We haven't posted for a while as our director Aimee was taking a well-deserved break! Today let's talk about APD's (Accredited Practising Dietitians) and why all Aim High dietitians are APD's. As an APD, not only have we completed university degrees in dietetics, we also all have minimum requirements in annual training and professional development. Usually we are required to complete 30 hours per year of further study, training, advocacy, mentoring and supervision. This year,... our hours are a little lower because lots of face-to-face training has been cancelled, but we continue to engage on online learning at every opportunity. All of our dietitians engage in mentoring or supervision on a regular basis, and our more senior experienced dietitians also provide supervision to less experienced dietitians. This makes sure we are always providing the absolute best, evidence-based interventions to our clients to ensure their safety, health and wellbeing. Later in the week we will clear up the confusion about the difference between a dietitian, a nutritionist and a clinical nutritionist!

03.01.2022 Happy 5th birthday to Aim High! It's been 5 years since I started this journey, beginning as such as small, very part-time private practice. We have grown so much and achieved so much over the last 5 years, I can't quite believe how far we have come. There is so much more planned for the future and I am so glad to be able to share this journey with my dedicated staff ~ Aimee
