14.01.2022 SMALL BUSINESS MONTH FESTIVAL PROVIDES SPRINGBOARD FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS IN SINGLETON Local businesses in the Singleton area will have access to free workshops a...nd business advisory services during October, designed to build resilience and aid recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. Singleton Council in partnership with Singleton Business Chamber will host several free workshops for businesses from 21 29 October in celebration of NSW Small Business Month, exploring topics on social media marketing and building a resilient business. Vicki Brereton, Council’s Director Organisation and Community Capacity said the workshops were another initiative of Council’s Community Support Package to help businesses adapt to the changing economic environment. In the wake of devastating bushfires and the global COVID-19 pandemic, we know this is the one of the toughest years many small businesses have faced, she said. When Council surveyed our business community back in May, more than 90 businesses responded by telling us that they needed support in the form of training in financial planning, cashflow management and social media marketing. To address this, we’ve partnered with the Singleton Business Chamber to deliver these free workshops facilitated by industry experts from making social media work for you, to building your business resilience, we’re here to support all local businesses as they enter their recovery phase. Ms Brereton said free business advisory sessions were also available to local business owners via The Business Centre’s Business Connect program. Free business advisory sessions are ideal for all business owners whether you are just starting out or want to grow your business. she said. Small business owners can often feel isolated especially if they don’t have people to bounce ideas off. The Business Centre offers a fresh set of eyes and opportunities to link to other services. Best of all, the State Government’s Business Connect program removes geographical obstacles as well as the cost barrier with several hours of advice available for free. I encourage all local business owners to get online and register your place at one of our workshops or reach out to The Business Centre to secure your free advice sessions today. Singleton Business Chamber president Sue Gilroy said Small Business Month provided an opportunity for local business owners to upskill with a variety of activities available locally and via the Small Business Month website. "For the Singleton business community, Small Business Month has never been more important, with programs and activities targeted towards assisting them to cope with the current economic climate and to improve and grow in the weeks, months and years ahead," she said. Small Business Month is also the perfect time to think about how we can all continue to support our businesses by shopping locally. We know through our Spend in Singleton program that our town and outlying villages have a variety of fantastic shops to buy from from essential items to homewares, gifts, local produce and services. We want to make sure that our local businesses not only survive but thrive during this hard time. All Singleton Small Business Month workshops are free to attend. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, online registrations are required. To register, visit https://www.singleton.nsw.gov.au/1005 To register for free business advisory sessions via The Business Centre, contact T 02 4925 7700. ENDS #NSWSmallBiz20 #SmallBusiness
