25.01.2022 FRUIT TREE UPDATE | One year ago we hosted a Fruit Tree Workshop for Aintree Community Garden at The House With No Fence. A number of people attended planted 15 fruit trees, some of which were going to be espalier trees along the back fence. We were hoping to host a follow up workshop at the HWNF this year to show you how to prune them, but COVID-19 had other ideas. Today the trees where pruned again and we thought we’d show you what they look like (pictured is an espalier plum). This back Garden is now home to 32 fruit trees, 15 berries/vines, chickens, and a host of annual vegetables. We’re hoping to have another open garden when coronavirus allows it. #weloveaintree #aintreecommunitygarden #fruittrees #growsomething #gardens

20.01.2022 GARDEN SURVEY | This is the last chance to answer this short gardening survey and go into the draw to win a voucher from Aintree Cafe & Garden. We want to know ...what type of gardener you are (or want to be) and what kind of assistance you feel you need to grow more fruit and veg at home. 18.01.2022 COMMUNITY| We’re well into Stage 4 lockdown now, and I bet none of us thought this was how we would be spending Winter when we thought about what 2020 held for ...us back in January. So now we’re here, we’ve got to help one another get through this. Here are a couple of easy ways to care for your neighbours during a pandemic: 1. TALK TO EACH OTHER call over the fence, send a text, write a note and pop it in someone’s mailbox... just make sure you talk to each other, ask if you’re ok, and tell someone when you’re not ok. 2. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS so many businesses are doing it tough, and now in Stage 4, the businesses that are open are relying on people within a 5km radius. Support them when you can, and commit to supporting small, independent, local businesses when they reopen when restrictions ease. 3. SAY THANK YOU if you know someone working on the front line in medical, schools, childcare, hospitality and more... say thank you to them! If you visit a store or supermarket, or receive a delivery... say thank you. These people are out there making your life a little better; a simple thankyou is something that might make their day. Remember, it’s ok not to be ok. Seek help. Reach out. Look out for one another. If you need to chat or reach out for help and have no one to call, you always call us... phone number is available on our profile or website.
