25.01.2022 It's Member Monday. __________ Melissa Wood | AIPP Victoria Vice Pres. ... HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER: (pretending to be) :) 10 years THIS or THAT Coke or Pepsi - coke Books or Movies - books Dancing or Singing - dancing Dogs or Cats - neither Mountains or Beach - beach Coffee or Tea - neither Wine or Beer - beer Facebook or Instagram - facebook Phone Call or Text - depends Sunrise or Sunset - sunset Camping or Hotel - hotel Guitar or Drums - drums Judge or Print Handler - print handler Natural Light or Studio Light - studio Print or Digital - print B & W or Colour - colour FIRST CAMERA: Canon 50D Uni used canon so made sense to buy what I was learning on. But let's pretend that didn't happen and it's a Nikon z6 haha! WHAT GENRE OF PHOTOGRAPHY IS YOUR THING / WHICH GENRE COULD YOU NEVER IMAGINE PHOTOGRAPHING, WHY? My thing is Portraits. I love conceptual portraits of fantastical characters, usually the darker kind. Never ever, ever, ever, weddings. Who needs that kind of stress in their lives?! not me! YOUR TOLD YOU CAN ONLY KEEP ONE LENS, WHICH ONE DO YOU KEEP, WHY? 24-70 because it's the only one I've ever really had I have the 105 now so will see how that goes. IF YOU COULD WORK ALONGSIDE ANY PHOTOGRAPHER, ALIVE OR DEAD, WHO WOULD IT BE? Renee Robyn, Kelly Robitaille and Richard Wood sorry, can't pick just one WHAT’S THE WEIRDEST REQUEST YOU’VE HAD ON A PHOTOSHOOT? I haven't done enough to have weird requests of me. But I have requested my husband and 4 of his work mates strip down to their jocks and let me full body paint them into super heroes for a Uni assignment. WHAT’S BEEN THE MOST AMAZING MOMENT YOU’VE HAD AS A PHOTOGRAPHER? Entering the Silver Lining Awards as a first time entrant and have TWO images in the top 25. And entering the IRIS awards and getting a Silver Distinction on my first ever live judged image WHY PHOTOGRAPHY? Because I am a walking cliche. Always took a camera everywhere as a teen. Just loved taking photos. blah blah blah LOL. As an adult I became obsessed with family history and old photos of family from the 19th century and wanted to take photos that generations would be looking at in the future the way I look at the old photos now. Giving families tangible memories, and the reasons behind even considering doing that was a stillbirth after taking some maternity photos for a friend. Those photos became the most precious thing in the world to them. I wanted to be able to give everyone photographic memories. Things evolved and changed over the last 2 years though and my passions have shifted but I will forever remember the baby that put me on my path to begin with. SHARE A FUN FACT WE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU. I am the eldest of 4 sisters and 5 brothers so boring
25.01.2022 For those who are after clarity regarding face masks and photoshoots, this is the information I have received directly and specifically from the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions. This information also highlights exactly why we are advocating for an exemption to the mandatory mask rule while being actively photographed or filmed. (accurate information provided from DJPR as at 1/10/20)... Please sign and share the petition so we can strengthen our voice ---- "Under Second Step restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne, photography shoots are not a permitted activity, unless they are in relation to production of telecommunication required to support critical functions, such as law enforcement, public safety, medical and other critical industries and where this activity cannot be undertaken virtually." "Under the Third Step, photography is permitted in Regional Victoria as long as social distancing and face mask measures are adhered to." "Under current restrictions, "photoshoots" are not a lawful exception for not wearing a face covering. This means that a face covering is required at all times during a photoshoot." For more information on exceptions for not wearing a face covering, please see the DHHS website. https://www.change.org/mask_exemption_for_professional_phot
22.01.2022 Okay Vic Crew... lets check in with each other and therapise this lockdown. New time: 6:30pm - 8 https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89228026033
21.01.2022 Hey regional Vic. We’re all excited you will see an ease in restrictions. A reminder though to check all restrictions still in place and be aware that while you may be able to return to some level of business in photography, face masks MUST still be worn in all public spaces, that includes parks and outdoor locations. https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/face-coverings-covid-19
20.01.2022 OH MY GOODNESS! It's Member Monday! Let's get to know the absolute legend that is, Robyn Campbell. Robyn Campbell | APPL MPhotog III ... Melbourne Headshot Company HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER: 22 years THIS or THAT Coke or Pepsi - coke Books or Movies - movies Dancing or Singing - dancing Dogs or Cats - dogs Mountains or Beach - mountains Coffee or Tea - tea Wine or Beer - wine Facebook or Instagram - facebook Phone Call or Text - phone call Sunrise or Sunset - sunset Camping or Hotel - camping Guitar or Drums - drums Judge or Print Handler - judge Natural Light or Studio Light - studio light Print or Digital - print B & W or Colour - colour FIRST CAMERA: Canon EOS 100 I was 15 years old and washed my Dad's car every week for 1 1/2 years to save up for it! WHAT GENRE OF PHOTOGRAPHY IS YOUR THING / WHICH GENRE COULD YOU NEVER IMAGINE PHOTOGRAPHING, WHY? My two genres experimental art, pushing the boundaries of pre conceived creativity beyond what has come before us and documentary, telling the stories of those around us with depth. I've shot so many genres over the years, from commercial cars to births, there's no genre I wouldn't tackle, I love a challenge and I'm constantly pushing myself to grow in my own photographic journey. We never stop learning. YOUR TOLD YOU CAN ONLY KEEP ONE LENS, WHICH ONE DO YOU KEEP, WHY? Nikon 18-35mm. A wide-angle lens can't hide anything. It captures the whole story, beyond what the human eye focus' on, and without the bias that a telephoto lens can bring. For me, it's about telling the whole story, not a cherry-picked version of reality. IF YOU COULD WORK ALONGSIDE ANY PHOTOGRAPHER, ALIVE OR DEAD, WHO WOULD IT BE? Dorothea Lange WHAT’S THE WEIRDEST REQUEST YOU’VE HAD ON A PHOTOSHOOT? A bridal party who wanted their photos taken at McDonalds. I obliged. Reluctantly. WHAT’S BEEN THE MOST AMAZING MOMENT YOU’VE HAD AS A PHOTOGRAPHER? Photographing Mohamad Ali for an entire day, ending at the Pratt Mansion with all of Melbourne's elite in one room. It was so hot and stuffy I almost passed out and had to ask Eddie Maguire to get me a glass of water! WHY PHOTOGRAPHY? I fell in love with photography as a teenager. Spending hours watching light pass through trees and glimmers reflecting off the water, I wondered who else could see this incredible beauty, so I wanted to capture it to share it with others. When I discovered the darkroom, I found a way I could express myself, compositing negatives, assembling my complex thoughts into expressive images. SHARE A FUN FACT WE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU. I'm really just a big loving kid at heart. I have an inner child who is constantly trying to escape so I spend most of my life "pretending to adult" which fortunately has been quite successful in business. I have outlets like roller skating and scouting to allow myself to play. Life is way too short, I intent to enjoy it!
20.01.2022 I am aware it's Friday, and with a full two weeks of Double Donuts here in Melbourne many of our followers and members may be out actually enjoying the time outdoors, socially distanced with friends, or, dare I say... Working! [How wonderful it is to be working again!] We have had some further clarification and confirmation from The Department of Jobs Precincts and Regions regarding 'Creative Studios' being able to operate (found in the Entertainment and Leisure section of t...he link below) We received, from the Department: "As part of this, Creative Studios, including those for photographers: Up to 10 people per space with 1.5 metres distance between patrons and subject to density quotient with one person per 4m2. We appreciate the collaboration with the AIPP and the sacrifices your members have made to help Victoria achieve these case numbers." Congratulations Victoria! https://www.premier.vic.gov.au//201108%20-%20Third%20Steps

19.01.2022 We're nearing 5,000 signatures on this petition, and tirelessly working behind the scenes on emails and phone calls and researching to effect change. Image Makers in Victoria are in a unique position with regional photographers and video producers able to work, while in Metro Melbourne, aside from permitted genres, are nearing a return to work date, however all of this is irrelevant for those who photograph people. Wearing a mask is mandatory outside of the home across all of... Victoria, photography and film for the purpose of working with a client is not an exemption to this ruling as it currently stands. Please continue to share this petition, and sign if you haven't already.
18.01.2022 We are gaining some traction, and getting noticed. https://www.insideimaging.com.au//aipp-calls-for-victoria/

We feel this is such an important message and event for you that we’re subsidising this event for all our Vic members. Head over to https://www.aipp.com.au/event/detail/VIC2103 to register for your ticket.

13.01.2022 AIPP Vic Seeking some anecdotal evidence. * Sessions per year vs. currently. * Downturn due to Lockdown. * How mandatory mask rule impacts your return to work.... please email [email protected] so we can get a clear picture of the current impact. Privacy will be protected.
13.01.2022 This looks exciting. https://www.abc.net.au//national-centre-for-photo/12890506
12.01.2022 We've had over 3,000 signatures so far, and it's great to see our new case numbers here in Victoria consistently remaining low. With announcements yet to be confirmed on when we might be able to return to work, it's important to remember that unless our clients are able to remove their masks we still can't effectively do our job. Please continue with this momentum so we can buoy off the current positives and get some real clarity for the Image Making Profession.
11.01.2022 As your Vic Council, photographers, and business owners, we are navigating the current stage of restrictions and extended lockdown with you, our members, whether Metro, or Regional. The concerns you have both professionally and personally, are the same we are feeling. We have opened a conversation with the Board, some members whom are weathering this in our state also, in relation to the current situation. Though you may have seen it, the link to the current roadmap is below.... Currently all genre's of photography services fall under the "Office and Professional Services" category for the industry restriction levels as advised from Business Vic. https://www.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19-restrictions-ro See more

I downloaded it and a journalist saw it and started a bit of a bidding war between newspapers. I decided not to sell it to anyone. ________________ Wanna be featured on our weekly Member Monday? 04.01.2022 The beginning of a working week, and that means, Member Monday. Let's get to know... Tiffany Selzer | AAIPP... Tiny and Brave HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER: 14 years THIS or THAT Coke or Pepsi - coke Books or Movies - books Dancing or Singing - dancing Dogs or Cats - dogs Mountains or Beach - mountains Coffee or Tea - tea Wine or Beer - wine Facebook or Instagram - insta Phone Call or Text - phone call Sunrise or Sunset - sunset Camping or Hotel - camping Guitar or Drums - guitar Judge or Print Handler - print handler Natural Light or Studio Light - natural light Print or Digital - print B & W or Colour - black and white FIRST CAMERA: The first camera I used was a Nikon film camera that my Mum let me play with. When I finally got my own camera it was a Canon 400D. WHAT GENRE OF PHOTOGRAPHY IS YOUR THING / WHICH GENRE COULD YOU NEVER IMAGINE PHOTOGRAPHING, WHY? Newborns and families mostly, but have a love for dancers too. I don't think there is any genre that I couldn't see myself photographing...I just love any day with the camera in my hand and even when I sit and try to visualise something I wouldn't want to do, I am drawing blanks. So nope, nothing. YOUR TOLD YOU CAN ONLY KEEP ONE LENS, WHICH ONE DO YOU KEEP, WHY? 105mm Macro WHAT’S THE WEIRDEST REQUEST YOU’VE HAD ON A PHOTOSHOOT? Photoshopping a person into a family photo who died a few years earlier. WHAT’S BEEN THE MOST AMAZING MOMENT YOU’VE HAD AS A PHOTOGRAPHER? My first Silver at VPPY in 2016 was a bucket list moment. Winning 2019 Victorian Newborn Photographer of the Year was pretty awesome, something I never ever saw coming! Standing next to Billy Brownless on the sidelines photographing the Cats play at GMHBA stadium was a massive fan girl moment too! Can I have more than one?! WHY PHOTOGRAPHY? All the joy. My cheeks hurts after most photoshoots, my happy cup is full all the time, I get to create and celebrate and experience. I love to sketch and paint and in 2018 I discovered the Illustrative category which lets me do all of these things in one place. Slightly addicted to the sound of the shutter too, gives me goosebumps, even 15 years in. SHARE A FUN FACT WE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU. I can't stand people touching my elbows.
04.01.2022 It's MEMBER MONDAY! Let's get to know Fiona, our fabulous Vic Council membership liason. ______________________________ Fiona Handbury | M. Photog | Membership Liaison ... HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER: 25 years THIS or THAT Coke or Pepsi - coke Books or Movies - books Dancing or Singing - singing Dogs or Cats - dogs Mountains or Beach - beach Coffee or Tea - coffee Wine or Beer - wine Facebook or Instagram - insta Phone Call or Text - phone call Sunrise or Sunset - sunrise Camping or Hotel - camping Guitar or Drums - guitar Judge or Print Handler - print handler Natural Light or Studio Light - studio light Print or Digital - print B & W or Colour - colour FIRST CAMERA: Nikon FM2, and I've been a Nikon shooter ever since. WHAT GENRE OF PHOTOGRAPHY IS YOUR THING / WHICH GENRE COULD YOU NEVER IMAGINE PHOTOGRAPHING, WHY? I love scientific photography, but my studio is primarily portrait based. I would struggle to be a good photojournalist, I'm an overly sensitive scaredy cat. YOUR TOLD YOU CAN ONLY KEEP ONE LENS, WHICH ONE DO YOU KEEP, WHY? My 105mm macro, as a Scientifically trained photographer it's all in the details, and as a Wedding Photographer, it's a sweet portrait lens. IF YOU COULD WORK ALONGSIDE ANY PHOTOGRAPHER, ALIVE OR DEAD, WHO WOULD IT BE? Ansel Adams, that man saw tone like no one else. WHAT’S THE WEIRDEST REQUEST YOU’VE HAD ON A PHOTOSHOOT? 5 naked footballers hired me to help them replicate a Jackass photo including hiring in a short statured person (which was replicating a Herb Ritts Photo). Lets just say the shoot involved a lot of tape and laughter. WHAT’S BEEN THE MOST AMAZING MOMENT YOU’VE HAD AS A PHOTOGRAPHER? THE most amazing..... wow, just one?! Hmmmm.. Getting to be a part of someones concept, and to help them realise and create an outstanding award winning image from a simple sketch. WHY PHOTOGRAPHY? Honestly... I moved from a laid back Darwin High School to a Boarding school in Victoria in year 11. I felt so displaced, that I hid away in the school darkroom every chance I got. 02.01.2022 Photography in Victoria is no doubt going to look different moving into 'Covid Normal' but where do we stand on the mandatory mask ruling during sessions? There has been no real clarity surrounding this, and given the serious implications it has for portrait, family, corporate and wedding photographers and video producers we're sharing this petition to aid our profession in returning to work safely and effectively. Please sign and share with your image maker community to aid our voice. http://chng.it/zSN87XxmRf
