24.01.2022 Old SOUL vs New SOUL The Flysurfer SOUL 10m is the next kite on my wish list. As I've said before in my reviews of the SOUL 12m, "I love this kite".... Having a smaller 10m would allow me to get out on those days when the wind is too high for the twelve. But should I stick with the first version or this newly released SOUL2?

23.01.2022 Lessons on south Kingscliff beach April 14th

23.01.2022 So, I've recently came back from a three week trip to the Isle of Wight, UK, visiting family. I took it as an opportunity to take my kitesurfing kit with me to see if I could get some sessions in whilst there. This was also a test run, a chance to put my new Flysurfer Soul to the test as a one kite, all purpose quiver that would be easier to travel with than taking a couple of tube kites and pump etc. So for starters my luggage consisted of a 100ltr roller bag, a twin tip boa...rd bag and a small carry on back pack that had my laptop and in flight stuff- all very manageable as far as being able to carry all of it without to much difficulty. In my main roller bag I got all of my stuff: 12m Soul kite, 3:2 wetsuit and 5mm booties, harness and leash, as well as all my clothes, toiletries, electronics, GoPro etc. With room to spare and weighing under 20kg, pretty amazing! Kitesurfing in the UK in mid April early June is very different from summer in east coast Australia. Colder for start, much colder. But not so much that I suffered in my 3:2 wetsuit and booties, which were enough, just, and I feel the cold really easily. I found a great resource whilst researching for info on which places to kitesurf and the conditions to expect: This website https://www.kite-and-windsurfing-guide.com/ It has easy to navigate icons where the popular spots are, wind directions and type of water whether flat or waves, tide info and if it's suitable for kite or windsurfers or both as well as other details. It details places, not just around the Isle of Wight but, around the world. I don't know how I didn't find this great resource before. Some of my experiences where a bit of a challenge, a couple of launches from rocky beaches proved difficult with bridals of a foil kite and I had to make sure there was nothing getting caught before I pulled the kite up into the air. A couple of time I was launching in front of cliffs with hardly any beach and so had to deal with up drafts of gusty wind conditions which made the kite a bit hard to control until I got into the water. The tides made a big difference as well and mid to low tides were definitely best as the beach was to small to launch from in some spots. But over all the kitesurfing trip was a great success and I managed to get a total of five sessions in, in 4 separate locations around the Island. I think My favorite spot was Colwell Bay: pretty flat with some nice little waves for doing great jumps off, the same for Yaverland although the day I was there the wind was marginal which brings me to the Flysurfer Soul. On this day at Yaverland whilst the 12m Tube kites were heading in because there wasn't enough wind for them, I was heading out on My 12m Soul, staying up wind and even getting in a couple nice floaty jumps in. The only other person out there was on an 11m Ozone Edge and a Foil board. Job Done! See more

12.01.2022 Brilliant second lesson today with Dean. He really got the kite skills dialed in and really enjoyed himself because of it. It's fulfilling for me too when teaching, that someone has a fun time and makes big strides in their progress. Well done mate.

09.01.2022 FLYSURFER SOUL 12M REVIEW I love Kitesurfing, but these days I want to go out for a session just so I can get on the Soul. I’ve been flying my Flysurfer Soul 12m since February 2019, getting lots of sessions on it and I have to say, I’m in love. Previous kites were always a nice piece of kit to get me on the water, I never really thought much about them once I was out there having fun and maybe that’s a good thing too. But when I’m out on the Soul I find myself looking up a...Continue reading

08.01.2022 I only got to Fly the 6.8m Gong kite, a couple of weeks ago. I was a little under powered, flying in about 20 knots so had to work the kite quite a bit. I'm rea...lly out of practice flying LEI's and for half the session made the mistake of being easy on sheeting in as I've got use to thinking this will stall the kite and am not use to a high bar pressure, I use the Soul 12m exclusively these days. Then I figured it out and yanking that bar right in with a massive amount of bar pressure, and viola, suddenly lots of power for such a small kite. It was hard work staying up wind and had to do the walk of shame a couple of times but I had a fun session. As to be expected the kite was super quick to turn, throwing it around to ride waves in was great especially after riding big foils for a couple of years. The flutter also completely disappeared once fully sheeted in. I'd would love to get this kite on a mid 20s day with nice waves, I think it would be brilliant. I'd say it's good value for the money, well worth it. The build quality is good and the bag is really well designed, I love the plastic zip. I also think this will be the perfect kite to give lessons. I'm really happy I bought it. I don't think it'll get used a whole lot apart from lessons, but it's nice to know that if I do fancy going out on those days where I would be starting to feel over powered on the Soul- well at least I have the option to take this little pocket rocket out for a blast. I also think it'll make the ideal foil kite once I get riding a foil nailed, hopefully this season! If someone is looking to buy a new kite but isn't wanting to spend the big bucks for the popular brands like Naish, Duotone, Ozone etc, then I would recommend this kite as another option.

04.01.2022 Things are pretty quiet at the moment, so I thought I'd put a post of one of my projects this last kite season.

01.01.2022 Gong UNIK 6.8m kite review Part 1 For a lesson a couple of weeks ago, I got out my 9m Naish Ride that I literally just spent another $192 to fix a massive rip from the last time I used it, especially repaired for this lesson, rushed into to Moti from WAKE N SURF, on Friday morning and had it back by that evening, nice one Moti. So the lesson went well till I went to blow up the kite and discovered it had a leaking valve. Another reason why I love foil kites....Continue reading
