If an unauthorised drone is flow over a fireground, all air support is immediately grounded. If you fly, we can’t so please leave your drone at home. See more

20.01.2022 It’s one of the saddest stories in aviation, and the most enduring. Since the first publication of an aircraft crash investigation in 1912 countless others have... recounted the same narrative: an aeroplane stalls at low height and spins into the ground no-one survives. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau added another to this stack of sad stories with its report into the crash of a Liberty XL-2 near Braidwood in NSW. Find out more in Flight Safety Australia:

14.01.2022 On Sunday night we coordinated the search for a light aircraft that had crashed near Theodore in Central Queensland. Off the back of an emergency beacon detecti...on, and a call to the Queensland Police Service from the pilot, we tasked the Cairns Challenger jet, rescue helicopters from Roma and Toowoomba with QPS responding on land. The pilot and his injured passenger were located and transported to Toowoomba Hospital. The pilot had to climb to the top of a hill to get mobile reception after the crash, which is why its important to have a registered beacon. You can check the registration of your beacon online: http://ow.ly/LKew50B9eQN

02.01.2022 ANSWERING THE CALL: On Thursday, the Idaho National Guard sent three UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and nearly two-dozen personnel to assist in battling the Calif...ornia wildfires. Earlier in the week, the Idaho Army National Guard Aviation Group trained on the specialized bucket equipment unique to helicopters and designed specifically for aerial firefighting, pictured here. California is currently requesting six Type-1 Firefighting Aircraft and were one of the only units currently available to fulfill that request, said Col. Christopher Burt, Idaho Army National Guard state aviation officer. We are trained, ready and eager to help our neighbors in California. The team from Idaho includes pilots and crew chiefs who make up the flight crews, along with essential maintenance and support personnel, as well as two flight paramedics augmenting California National Guard UH-60 MEDEVAC crews. They will work in cooperation with several other states as they battle the massive fires that have already consumed more than 1 million acres across the Golden State. Our three UH-60s are among roughly 30 other military aircraft augmenting a number of civilian agency aircraft, said Capt. Eric Fitzpatrick, officer in charge of Idahos team. Civilian aircraft are the primary effort but they have reached capacity so this is where the National Guard comes in: to help fellow citizens in need, whether back home in Idaho or around the country. While Idaho Army Aviation provides this support to the citizens of California, the Idaho National Guard as a whole will continue to maintain its readiness to respond to fires, or any other emergencies here in Idaho, if called upon. Good luck to our Guardsmen and keep them in your thoughts. #alwaysready #alwaysthere
