20.01.2022 Hats off to the 7 runners (and their loyal support crew!) who braved the wet Canberra conditions and took part in the Australian 24 Hour Track Invitational at the AIS Track & Field centre on the 25th & 26th of July. Some great video footage captured by ABC News - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAbrQLFJjXY
19.01.2022 AIS Track & Field Centre Australian Institute of Sport Athletics Track created the perfect opportunity to capture a moment in history from the former track, whe...n Melissa Breen broke the National Australian Women’s 100m sprint record in 2014. The Sport Australia facilities team kept a lane marker from Breen's run and presented it to her as a memento of the occasion at the new track. Participants and referees are not required to wear masks while competing. Spectators and coaches are required to wear masks at all times. - in the AIS Visitor Centre including in the AIS Shop and when ordering and waiting at the AIS café, but not while eating or drinking. As the situation is constantly evolving, please keep up to date with the latest information at https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/home
18.01.2022 All visitors to the AIS campus, including the Aquatic & Fitness Centre, AIS café and Track and Field Centre, must register using the Check In CBR app. This is even for brief visits such as collecting takeaway from the AIS cafe. Visitors using the Aquatic and Fitness Centre will have to Check In as well as swipe their membership card. There are posters placed at these venues with the QR code for you to scan. Please download the app before visiting us.... If you can’t use the app yourself, please speak to our friendly staff. Check In CBR means faster COVID-19 contact tracing. Follow the rules to help keep CBR safe and strong. Use of the Check In CBR app is mandatory. For further information and links to download the app, please see https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/check-in-cbr/

06.01.2022 It takes a lot to stop Melissa Breen in her tracks, but there were beautiful scenes at the AIS track last night when Matt Beckenham proposed in lane 4, the same lane Mel was in when she broke the Australian women's 100m record. We wish the happy couple the very best.

04.01.2022 Whilst we are buoyed by the careful and gradual easing of COVID-19 restrictions in the ACT related to sport and recreation, the AIS is focussing it’s initial phase on returning high performance activity to the campus. We anticipate this period of high performance sport reactivation will last at least until late June. During this initial period of time, we don’t expect to re-open facilities to the public, but we will continue to plan for reopening when appropriate to do so. Please check back here for updates and we look forward to welcoming you back to the AIS as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

03.01.2022 Urgent advice regarding interstate hotspots. With the situation rapidly evolving across NSW as well as Victoria, we need to be extremely cautious about potentially introducing infection onto the AIS campus. We therefore require that if you have been in any of the NSW hotspots, anywhere in Victoria or in Batemans Bay since 13 July, that you do not attend the AIS site for at least 14 days since you were last in these locations. The same is to apply going forward for any new hot...spots identified by ACT Health. We are in a strong position in the ACT at the moment, but we all need to work together as a community to ensure it stays that way. If you develop any COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, muscle aches, unexplained fatigue) you should self-isolate and be tested. Please keep an eye on the latest advice at www.covid19.act.gov.au and comply with any Public Health Directions regarding self-isolation. We thank you for your cooperation.
