17.01.2022 From the Sun insert in today's Bulletin.

11.01.2022 Big day ahead today for the Aitkenvale Sports Association with a major announcement to be made at 10am.

10.01.2022 Today is a red letter day in the history of the Aitkenvale Sports Association Inc and also for both Centrals ASA Junior and Senior Rugby League Clubs. At a full Council meeting this morning, the following agenda items were discussed and PASSED: 1. That, subject to the finalisation of terms of an agreement between Council and Centrals Junior Rugby League Club (CJRLC) for the appropriation of improvements developed by CJRLC at 116 Charles Street, and the requirement for a...ny money paid to CJRLC to be reinvested in recreational pursuits for which the CJRLC was incorporated, Council will, on the appropriation of those improvements make payment to the club of an agreed amount. 2. That Council agree in principle to the request from Aitkenvale Sporting Association to be able to purchase land in freehold at Illich Park for the development of a new clubhouse. 3. That Council agree in principle to the request from Aitkenvale Sporting Association to allow the installation of fencing around the two senior fields at Illich Park (pending approval by, and adherence to the conditions set by, Engineering Services). The 2nd and 3rd resolutions in particular give the ASA and Centrals the surety of tenure we have been chasing for many years, particularly the last 8 years of my involvement in this endeavour. Owning the clubhouse land means the ASA will never have to worry about our future tenure and being able to fence the 2 main fields means that both the Junior and Senior Clubs will be able to host home games and charge a gate fee. There have been many people who have contributed to this wonderful outcome for our Clubs over many, many years, however I would particularly like to acknowledge Councillor Pat Ernst who Chairs the Council’s Sports, Parks and Recreation Committee and local Division Councillor Ray Gartrell, for their support and determination to achieve these outcomes for our Clubs. Onwards and upwards from here !!
