06.01.2022 CASUAL CONVERSION Changes to the National Employment Standards (NES) provide a pathway for casual employees to convert to permanent employment. Employers (other than small business employers need to take steps in line with these changes by 27 September 2021. To be eligible an employee must: 1. Have worked for the employer for at least 12 months; and... 2. Have worked a regular pattern of hours for at least the last 6 months; and 3. Be able to continue that pattern on a permanent basis without significant change. Casual conversion is a right protected under the NES.
