18.01.2022 Inclusive education Teaching students with disability: https://bit.ly/2JQHKd4 The goal of inclusion is to develop processes of personalised learning and support so that students with disability can engage in learning and schooling in the same way as their age-peers. The four-step process outlined in our latest Spotlight is a guide for developing personalised learning and support.... 1. Consult and collaborate 2. Assess and identify the needs of the student 3. Provide personalised adjustments 4. Monitor & review the impact of adjustments By monitoring and tracking learning progress, teachers can shift the focus of personalised learning and support toward the delivery and evaluation of instruction, and away from the provision of resources and support based solely on diagnosis or classification of disability. On International Day of People with Disability (3 December 2020), we launched our latest Spotlight - Inclusive Education: Teaching students with disability. Visit https://bit.ly/2JQHKd4 to explore #teaching resources. Including videos and fact sheets produced in partnership with Get Skilled Access: - Creative inclusive school culture - Focusing on solutions, not barriers - Communicating effectively with student #Education #Teacher

14.01.2022 "One of the key issues for students with disability is effective communication, and more importantly, having great communication with their teachers." Dylan Alcott OAM On International Day of People with Disability - Australia (3 December 2020) we launched our latest Spotlight, Inclusive Education: Teaching students with disability. https://www.aitsl.edu.au//inclusive-education-teaching-stu... The Spotlight includes videos and fact sheets produced in partnership with Get Skilled Access to help put the research findings into practice. The Spotlight highlights that: - Inclusive education can lead to improved behaviour for all children - Inclusive education involves teachers, leaders, students, parents and support teams working together to enhance the learning experience of students with disability - Australian state and federal education policies call for an inclusive approach to the education of students with disability, consistent with human rights obligations. Students with disability are entitled to relevant and engaging age-appropriate learning opportunities on the same basis as their peers. The priority of inclusion for all children is also explicit in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, developed by #AITSL in consultation with the teaching profession. https://www.aitsl.edu.au/teach/standards #IDPWD2020 #IDPWD #Education #Teachers
