07.01.2022 True or False? You can’t take paid sick leave within the first 3 months of starting a new job. That’s false! It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been with an emp...loyer, if you’re sick or injured and can’t go to work, you can take any paid sick leave you’ve accrued. You may have to provide evidence (like a medical certificate) if it’s requested. All full and part-time employees start accruing sick leave progressively from the day they start a new job. Full-time employees accrue a minimum of 10 days over the course of a year, part-time employees get a pro-rata amount of that. Any unused sick leave rolls over to the next year.
