20.01.2022 A quick update to everyone who donated to our March Bush Fire appeal. We are pleased to share that we raised a total of $12,000 made up of $6,000 of donations plus a matching $6,000 from AJSS. We were due to complete our Skydive on March 13th but it was cancelled twice due to high winds and later due to COVID-19. We hope to jump at the end of the year and will hold your donations in our funding account until then. Until then, we decided to release the AJSS matching funds now ...to help those affected businesses. It was incredibly humbling to speak to the recipients and hear about their struggles and successes and we are so glad to be able to contribute. A number of local businesses were contacted to ensure that our purchases could be passed on to deserving locals using the #spendwiththem and #itsmyshout websites. We have provided lunch boxes to nurses and volunteeers with The Hungry Mind. Weighted therapy blankets with Wildflower Holistic, support to wildlife shelters at Wallabia Wildlife Centre and Wires Wildlife. We have donated gifts to local schools with glitter for kids and also care packs for teachers at Teachers Matter and donations of staples including bread, cheese and milk using local stores who share with locals who are staying in temporary accommodation. We also purchased accommodation nights for those without a roof at Buchan Farmhouse and we bought coffees, beers and gin and tonics for local volunteers in the #itsmyshout website. Thank you again for your support to allow us to pay it forward to these local communities.
