23.01.2022 2 horses WANTED for clients Both must be quiet, reliable horses, sound and MUST pass a vet check. Horse 1: suitable for a nervous intermediate rider. Must be quiet on the ground and under saddle and able to teach a rider to jump. ... Height: 15hh- 16hh Age: 8yo - 17yo Not fazed on breed or colour but would like a x breed. Price: healthy budget for right horse but would prefer under $5000 Horse 2: suitable for beginner to intermediate adult rider but will be used by a 12yo as well. Must be easy to trim, catch and float. Barefoot preferred. PC experienced and been there done that is preferred. Height: 13.2hh - 15hh Age: 7yo - 13yo No breed preference but must tick above boxes. Price: up to $3000 Both homes are A+ homes. Both horses will be very well looked after and will be purchased as forever horses pending suitability. 21.01.2022 Miss Emmy had her first lesson back as a school pony today! Chloe (9yo) did an awesome job riding a new horse. If you would like to come and join us over the school holidays for lessons please send me a msg. We have great instructors and some lovely horses of all sizes if you are without a mount. If you would like to bring your own thats more than welcome too! Lessons in dressage, jumping and general riding/handling available.

20.01.2022 Ajay Equestrian is possibly looking at hiring a 3rd instructor! If you have a passion for teaching, have good sound horse knowledge and are capable of teaching children from 5 years up to Adults we would like to hear from you. Hours would be after school from 4pm til approximately 8pm tuesdays and Wednesdays depending on student numbers. You will need to be confident and capable of working on your own. Horses, tack and venue supplied. If you have been wanting to give instr...ucting a try, or are a seasoned instructor looking for a structured 2nd job this may be the perfect position for you. Feeding horses will also be part of the job. (Will need to know or be willing to learn to drive a manual ute) Please send your resumes to [email protected] along with your experience and skills including how long you have ridden for and in what disciplines and if you have had experience instructing. Training will be provided for the right applicant.

20.01.2022 So, Big red and I have our first ever comp together this Sunday! I have cleaned our gear, ruined a wool numnah, practised our tests and purchased a new bra to hold the girls in place! Now I just need alcohol and an ambo on site and we will be set! Is anyone else getting out this weekend before the craziness of Christmas kicks in??

16.01.2022 Frequently asked question! "My horse is just coming back in to work so should I wait to get him fitted when he is at the fitness and weight I want him at?" I hear this question A LOT!! and the answer.... NO... Would you wait until your a competition is this weekend to get your horses hooves done? And expect him to train with over grown hooves and shoes falling off?? Just because you may not see the effects a bad saddle fit has on your horse doesn't mean you shouldn't check it! Most people spend between $100- $150 every 6 weeks on their horses hooves yet dont find a saddle fit worthy even though it is around the same cost every 6 MONTHS! However, an ill fitting saddle can cause performance issues, behaviour issues, cost you money in body work and vet visits because your horse is sore. Why wait until he is sore before you do something? Same goes for "my horse has just been broken in so i will wait until he builds muscle before getting it fitted"... He will not grow the correct muscles if he cannot lift his back up into the saddle! If you want the best performance from your horse, or you want your horse to be happy while he is carrying in around please, please think of his comfort. Your saddle should be checked every 6 months, just like regular farrier trims this will keep your horse working at his best!

15.01.2022 This is a little video of the work being done with a 2yo welsh pony. He is very kicky and nippy and jumps at the slightest of movements. He has been learning how to walk, stop, back up and turn on the lead calmly and quietly and pick up his feet. His biggest issue was patience and as soon as you picked a hoof up he wanted to stomp, kick or walk away. So today I used the long rope to help aid me in being able to reward him with a release at the correct time (when he settled) n...ot when he kicked his way out of my grip. With the rope I never put pressure on him to lift his leg while he was moving around, i waited until he was calm and still then asked for his leg, at the start, as soon as his foot left the ground I took the pressure off. Then I slowly started asking him for more time in the air, this is when the kicking began. I would then be still and quiet with the rope but not allow him to have pressure off until he lifted his leg and became settled. Then I release the pressure. Once he was calm with the rope technique I made sure I transferred that pressure to me holding his leg. Tomorrow i will attempt to just pick the hoof up before using the rope again and hope that he can move forward with his training kindly from their. See more

12.01.2022 The first book is on its way to the printer!! Then it will get checked and make sure that everything prints well then it will be available to purchase! The book includes the workbook and once you have done the workbook you will then be able to book in to one of the clinics that will be the practical aspect of the course. The clinic will cover everything in the book and be an introduction to the level 2 course of groundwork to explain some of the movements required for that... course. I cannot wait to help people learn more about their horses!! I hope that everyone who does this course enjoys it. Please let me know if you have any ideas of things I can add that you would love to know more about. Pre orders of the books are now being taken. The books are $30 each Clinic cost if you wish to come will be $150 per person for the day. Clinic dates will be worked out soon. There is no obligation to come to the clinic if you purchase the book. It will just be a chance for you to practise your knowledge in a safe and encouraging environment. 10.01.2022 Anyone who knows me knows that this is one of my favourite horses in the world. I have had Emmy since she was 2 weeks old. She hasn't been easy and I doubt ever will be. But she has had a glorious 4 years out of work and is now going to be brought back in to work to be a school horse. She is now 14 years old and the size of a whale.. but hopefully will be ready for some new riders to have a play with her cool moves through the school holidays!! Emmy also enjoys doing liberty work so she is so much fun to play with on the ground too!!

More woah than go. Teddy is a 10hh miniature pony who can get up and go when needed or is happy to walk along. Suitable for beginners under 9 years old. Chevy is a 16hh tb gelding. 07.01.2022 What a great day for a clinic! Today we had the older children's clinic. We began the day by making browbands which the kids got to take home to use on their own horses, then they learnt lots of theory then they got to get on and learn lots of new skills on their horses! What a great bunch of kids!

04.01.2022 Last day of clinics at Ajay Equestrian was run by the lovely Amanda Massie. Where we all learnt or refreshed our long reining skills! This is such a brilliant skill to have and use to teach your horse new tricks prior to getting on. Whether it's just turning and stopping or piaffe and passage it can all be taught in long reins and with in hand work.

You can join in for all 3 lessons or have 2 dressage/in hand lessons if you do not want to jump No horse? No problem! School horses available too! 02.01.2022 Ok, so for the last few weeks I have had some late nights and big days stuck in front of a computer. For what? For all of you who are beginning riding, whether at a young age, or as an adult.... For all of the riders that feel out of their depth when it comes to knowledge of their horse, or just want to know a bit more. For all of the mums and dads of children who want to ride, yet you have no idea of where to start and what you need. I have almost finished by first Ajay Equestrian Handbook, Level 1 Equine Care, aimed at these groups of people. Which will also be accompanied by the Level 1 Equine care workbook to test your knowledge. Im so excited and it will be available to everyone as a booklet very soon!!
