22.01.2022 Don't miss out! Tomorrow we are concluding our 3 Part Giving Series with a session on Philanthropy and the Environment! The recent spring and summer bushfires had a devastating impact on many people, houses and infrastructure, millions of birds and animals, our health and on the Australia psyche. These events, as well as the recent drought and bleaching of the Great Barrier Reef, were brought about by several factors but mostly led by climate change. While the COVID epidemic ...may have shifted our focus, climate change is not going away. Philanthropy has an incredibly important role to play in funding, investing and influencing. The AEGN and its members are working together with NGO partners and others to change the course of history in Australia and make sure our country signs up to 100% zero carbon emissions soon. Amanda and Eytan will talk about how the AEGN operates, what philanthropy is doing about climate change and how people are using their time and talent to influence change. The Jewish Community has always embraced philanthropy, stepping up as leaders of giving during the mid 20th century. Australia saw the decriminalization of LGBTQI people in 1997, which meant the LGBTQI community now was able to learn the art of giving and art of philanthropy. Join us for an insightful conversation about the commonalities, differences, and challenges confronte...d at the intersection of religion, gender, sexuality and philanthropy.
