23.01.2022 It’s been a hot minute since I have shared a tutorial. I’ve been doing online workshops for different peeps and have a sponsored in-person one booked that I can share more details about soon I spent the morning in the studio and now I’m sitting in the shade while my daughter plays at the playground. We brought lunch down and it’s just so bloody perfect. So anyhow I was going to do a Story question sticker for those wanting help with their phone photography/visual content. ...But I can only post one Story at the moment. Bloody Instagram. So, here’s a post instead. What do you want to be able to do better with your photography? I’m here to answer all your Q’s for @luxelashesaustralia - an amazing at home lift kit. This is 3 pictures composited together.
22.01.2022 If, like me, you’ve upgraded to the new iPhone operating system and are missing the good old hold the shutter button down for burst mode I have a solution for you. Yay for simple solutions! https://9to5mac.com//how-to-use-burst-mode-with-iphone-vo/
18.01.2022 3 years ago... my first ever live!! Does the out of breathe voice and shaking camera give away how nervous I was?!? So bloody nervous. I can feel the tightness in my chest listening back to it. I’m a lot more confident speaking these days - I get booked for keynote addresses! And it goes to show that we just have to start somewhere. Putting yourself at the face of your biz is how you build connection. And this is where it started for me.... It’s actually a helpful vid so ignore the chat about the workshop I was promoting and learn how to style a flat lay! Have you done a Facebook Live? How was it?!
16.01.2022 Well this is a bit exciting!!
14.01.2022 The power of a good crop. If you’ve been to a workshop of mine you would have heard me say that what you choose to leave out of the frame is just as important as what you choose to include. Swipe to see case in point Welcome to the end of school holidays! With it being officially the last day today so I’m back behind the lens from next week I’ve got some shoots lined up with my favourite brands and am starting to book March. (If you need Easter specific content DM me pronto). Do you consciously compose your images? A good habit to get into is to check the corners. As your eyes wonder over the image is there anything that daws your attention away from what you’re trying to show? ie the living room mess vs the fabulous map! Let me know if you’ve found some funnies or heard horror stories of things accidentally seen in a pic
12.01.2022 My numbertip for amazing brand photos is... Know what you want! Grab your style guide from your graphic designer (or create one yourself), have a bank of words that describe your brand and find inspo pics! The more you are comfortable with what your photographer is creating the more amazing your photos will be.... Yes, your photographer will help you take the pieces of your brand and bring it together visually but you need to know what those pieces are. What colours do you love? Where do you love to hang? What do you want your audience to know or remember about you? What are the key messages that you talk about all the time? My most successful shoots have been the ones where the client has come prepared. They’re comfortable, we’re on the same page and they can relax knowing that I understand what they want. If you need help deciding those things I can get you started. Book a discovery call and we’ll get planning. for Bobbie of @sparrowcomms at @studiohiremandurah and @botanicalsandco
11.01.2022 Peeps! I highly recommends the Creative Republic backdrops. I use them almost exclusively (except for my DIY versions). And 20% off all weekend! Might grab the ones I’m missing
11.01.2022 Happy Holidays my friends! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for all your support for yet another year. This was my third (actually I think it’s my fourth!) year in business and it was full of some big, big moments! I’m very proud of and grateful for I’ve what I’ve achieved. Thank you Life has changed for me a little over the last few months as I’ve had to take on other responsibilities for financial independence. It will see my business change a little in 2021. Not mu...ch from your perspective, I’ll still be running workshops, headshot days, sharing tips and taking 1:1 clients in product and business portraits (ha! So maybe not much will change ). I’ll be approaching it from a different mindset though so I can provide max value for you in the little time I have. Taking bookings for February right now and watch out for some fab events in Q1! I hope you have some lovely downtime over the next few weeks. Much, much love from my family to yours Merry Christmas by the beautiful Ania @ Enriched By Light and make up by Tara @blacklashmua
08.01.2022 HNY my friends! I hope you had a fab few weeks over Christmas and the randomness that the period from then to now brings. I hung with family, worked, hung with Jolie, had beach time and cups of tea in the garden time (where I am now, well it’s more a courtyard ). Chatting to the beautiful @left_coast_australia yesterday about 2021 words and NY resolutions. Neither of us can remember ours from last year so... But looking forward to 2021 my biz focus is going to be O...NLINE. I’ve neglected my online presence for too long. I have a great blog that gets lots of visitors so I want to keep writing. 2020 saw lots of online workshops for private spaces so I’m going to open them up to you! I’m going to get this online course done that I have literally been talking about since I first started my biz 4 years ago! And I’m going to get my online booking system and workflows properly working for me. Like I mentioned last post there will still be 1:1 work, workshops and headshot days. The connection that I build with you all in those sessions means too much to me give away completely. And get so much joy from photographing and teaching in person. I’m looking at my calendar this week to time block (@laurenjunenet @socifriends hear that??) my days and plan ahead so watch out for some fab events and dates soon! I hope 2021 is full of awesomeness for you. I hope it’s kind and loving and fulfilling. Happy New Year! Are you are resolution keeper? Do you have a word?
07.01.2022 If you’ve been to any of my in person or online workshops you would have heard me say this. A considered photo will make ALL the difference to its impact on your audience. 1. Play with angles 2. Check the background for distractions... Tap to see some examples on general photos I took over the last few weeks. I crouched down to make the lines on the bedspread draw your eye in to my daughter and nephew. I got down at eye level so they looked straight down the lens and not up at me. I stood so the cubby house was square on to me and he was framed. I used the door frame to frame her and made sure the sides were straight. These small considerations about where I was standing and how I was holding my phone/camera creates big impact in the final images. I’m presenting a free workshop with Social Friends on Wednesday. Jump into their Hangout for a link to learn more easy tips from me and come with your phone photography questions. I’m guilt of the quick snap but when I take my time I’m always happier with the images. Are you guilt my of the snap and share?
04.01.2022 Free workshop Yep, completely free! The Town of Victoria Park have me on board as part of their Success Series and I couldn’t be more stoked!... I’m presenting a two hour workshop on how to take professional images of your products with your phone. Learn how to style and compose, set up utilising natural light or create the perfect set up with artificial lights and how to edit to make them polished. And you’ll have time to practise what you learn. Bring a few products and walk away with images you can post. Level up your sales game in the lead up to Christmas by making your products eye catching and scroll stopping. https://www.victoriapark.wa.gov.au/Even/Product-photography for more info and to reserve your spot. Only 9 spots available (and lunch provided!)
02.01.2022 I could not love this more Jolie has been bear obsessed forever. We (me) are usually not very enthusiastic for Book Week. Jolie’s been happy to wear the same costume for the last 3 years, once as a tiger and twice as a bear This year we made an effort. And bloody pulled it off! Bit proud I’ve edited these with my Bright and Clean Lightroom Mobile preset. Big on bright and keeping colours true. I’m still in beta mode for these so prices are low. And when I roll out an u...pdate all previous purchasers will get access to the new additions https://ajharringtonphotos.com/presets/ Are you a book week enthusiast?
