09.01.2022 Introducing Andrew Moran, playing Father Benedictus in BRAN NUE DAE! Winner of the 2014 Italian Opera Foundation Scholarship, Melbourne-born baritone Andrew Mo...ran has also been nominated for a Green Room Award as best lead singer in an opera for his portrayal of Papageno (The Magic Flute) with Opera Australia last year. Since joining the Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist program in 2008, Andrew has gone on to perform many of the leading Baritone roles at Opera Australia including Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Marcello (La bohème), Papageno (The Magic Flute), Ping (Turandot), Dr Bartolo (The Barber of Seville), Geronio (Il turco in Italia), Donner (Das Rheingold) in the Melbourne Ring Cycle, Fra Melitone (La forza del destino), Starveling and Demetrius (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Ned Keene (Peter Grimes), Morales (Carmen), First Mate (Billy Budd), as well as the Marquis (La Traviata), Mr Lindquist (A Little Night Music), Sciarrone (Tosca), Sid (La Fanciulla del West), Marullo (Rigoletto), the Gamekeeper (Rusalka), Amantio di Nicolao (Gianni Schicchi), Antonio (The Gondoliers), Armed Man 2 (The Magic Flute) and Christian (Un Ballo in Maschera). After completing a Bachelor of Music at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Andrew relocated to Sydney where he continued his studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in the Graduate Diploma in Music course (Opera Studies). He has been the recipient of numerous scholarships notably at the Australian Singing Competition (the Phoebe Patrick Award and the Goethe Institute Award), the Royal Overseas League Music Bursary, the Britten-Pears Aldeburgh Young Artist Program Award, the Glyndebourne Festival Prize and the 4MBS Classic FM Award. Andrew will perform in Bran Nue Dae at Riverside from 15 Jan - 1 Feb 2020!
