14.01.2022 Government Stimulus Tax Benefits It may have already been brought to your attention in the media that there has been a ‘proposed’ update to the current instant asset write-off thresholds in the government’s stimulus package announcement. The current instant asset write-off threshold of $30,000 for businesses with a turnover of up to $50 million is set to increase to $150,000 for businesses with a turnover of up to $500 million but only from 12 March 2020 until the 30 June 202...0. Please note that this proposed change has not passed legislation yet and could still change again at any time. We will keep you updated on any new information that is made available. Please feel free to contact our office for further information.

13.01.2022 As you may be aware, the Australian Government has announced a new wage subsidy called the ‘JobKeeper Payment’. This payment relates to all business clients whose turnover has fallen by at least 30%, whether they have employees or not. Under the JobKeeper Payment, businesses impacted by the Coronavirus will be able to access a subsidy from the Government to continue paying their employees. Businesses will receive at least $1,500 per fortnight (before tax) for each eligible e...mployee. Self-employed people will need to provide a monthly update to the ATO to declare their continued eligibility. We encourage that all our business clients to register for this subsidy whether they have had a downturn already or believe that they might in the coming months. These changes are yet to pass legislation and can change at any time. As more information and details become available, we will endeavour to keep you updated. To be able to register for this subsidy you will need to go to the website below: https://www.ato.gov.au/job-keeper-payment/ Below is the Australian Government’s factsheet that contains more detail should you wish to read. https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/jobkeeper Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office. Regards, AKA Accounting Team.
