16.01.2022 W I N N E R ~ Innovation & Access Award **TOOWOOMBA WELLCAMP AIRPORT** Proudly sponsored by Akadia Training... Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport is the first privately funded, public airport in Australia. It was built and designed to ensure comfortable and easy access for all passengers. It engaged a leading disability trainer to develop the airport’s Disability Access Facilitation Plan, which is used to train staff and inform volunteers and passengers of the availability of accessible services at the airport. These include accessible seating, tactile paving for visually impaired passengers, a single-level set down zone, personal assistance by airport staff and braille signage on access and toilet doors. The lengths that Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport has gone to provide access for all makes them a very worthy winner of this award. Congratulations General Manager Robert Kasch and the airport management and staff.
