23.01.2022 This was done a little while ago and I’m still amazed with how it turned out. I’ve made a few axe sheaths in the past that drop in, but this battle axe needed an alternative to the plastic version. Just goes to show that leather can replicate virtually any other resource out there, and will probably age better.

23.01.2022 Only my third day into the new job and already I’ve got the students leathercrafting. Somehow it fits in with their curriculum. I think the teachers enjoyed it just as much. @ Alice Springs, Northern Territory

21.01.2022 Now the package is complete........for now! Front tool roll, leather hand grips, tank pouch and saddle bags. Still more to be added yet, all in good time

20.01.2022 That’s another wrap! New tank pouch for The Chief.

20.01.2022 It’s been great to see the young students rolling back into the school with much enthusiasm!

18.01.2022 Alice Springs Beanie Festival! Where crafts of all types attract folks of all ages.

17.01.2022 What better place to run a free hands-on leathercraft workshop than the middle of an art exhibition. That’s how they roll in Alice Springs NT

16.01.2022 Had fun leathercrafting with 10 of these these little ones at the library holiday program. They were so quick I didn’t get a good pic while they were all in action. Lots of wrist-bands and name tags were produced in a mere 1hr.

15.01.2022 That’s Melbourne done and dusted, for now. Two inspiring all-day workshops were held for 24 enthusiastic up & coming leather crafters, now skilled up and prepped for creating their own wares with leather. Although the students were shown how to put together the same basic gusseted pouch, they also had options. They could shape the front flap however they wanted, artistically design it to their own taste, and choose whether to saddle stitch or lace the sides. Each result was a... truly unique outcome, no two pouches were alike! It showed how much the original design and principles of leathercraft can vary from the personal creativity of each individual. I am forever inspired to share the basic principles of working with leather to all who can benefit. Thanks to @lefflerleather and Paul for hosting my workshops over the two days. I will endeavour to offer more in their well-accommodated space when I return every six months or so. If you happen to be in the NT, hit me up! I’ll be running regular courses in Alice Springs over the next few months before heading further north into the Top End. @ Melbourne See more

14.01.2022 An awesome, creative family gathering was had by Mum, Dad and their three kids who invited me to run a workshop at their home. The innovative creativity that evolved was astounding! Dad even hand-carved the stick for the hair beret. When Uncle dropped by to watch, he ended up recreating a dreaming story on leather that turned into a pouch, with commemoration to two lost children. The outcome from these guys who had never worked with leather before was exceptional. All in an afternoon!

14.01.2022 A new challenge with a satisfied end result. The final outcome is always a mystery to me

13.01.2022 When the old canvas seat doesn’t cut it....leather takes over to last many more years

13.01.2022 Custom belt for a young fella....... @ Alice Springs, Northern Territory

12.01.2022 Nature is so inspiring......... it’s beauty encourages us to create more. A branch of old mulga deadwood that was destined for firewood, called on me to replicate it’s growth. So with some damp leather and a hammer, I was able to honour it’s request. I think the results speak for themselves.

12.01.2022 So honoured to have the skills and passion for this ancient craft that enables me to gift back to others when I have little more than a bit of leather.

12.01.2022 Small accomplishments for the day....... upholstering my outdoor chair with padded armrests and embossing nature’s fingerprints onto leather, as well as part of a number plate

08.01.2022 Yet another innovative way to design on the hide of an animal......... Aboriginal elder Mervyn Street shaved and carved into the hair of a cowhide to create a herd of long-horned cattle grazing on the leather in Droving Cattle In The Summertime.

07.01.2022 When you need a pouch or cover for anything, leather is the go-to resource for the job.
