04.01.2022 As NAIDOC Week comes to a close for this year, we want to pay tribute to the traditional custodians of our land, and leaders past, present and future who have shaped and steered progress towards recognition of the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This year's theme was 'Always Was, Always Will Be', a powerful statement about the sacred and spiritual connection Aboriginal and TSI people have to our land for hundreds of thousands of years, if not, millenia.... While NAIDOC Week celebrations wrap up tomorrow, we should continue to acknowledge the importance of our First People's knowledge of the land, and their contributions to ensuring the conservation and sustainability of the land which we so rely heavily upon - through agriculture, mining and other industries. Through our Indigenous business, Maramara, which has strong ties into many communities throughout WA, we want to be a part of the reconciliation process by leading from the front, learning and providing the skills and knowledge to manage the land on which we operate and mine and start to develop sustainable energy sources for the future of this planet. So let's all make a conscious effort to continue the conversation around this year's topic and encourage education on Aboriginal and TSI practices on land management and respecting cultural heritage.
