25.01.2022 : : CONSISTENT BRANDING VOL. 2 - PART II : : I got insanely lucky with Blackout. Let's face it; cakes, slices, coffee, bagels, pies... you see a photo of them, and immediately your brain goes 'yeah I want some of that'. It sells itself! To make it even easier again, Sarah has a background in photography, so getting great images of their creations was guaranteed to look . Next on the list was creating a style for their actual posts. Obviously with a skull and crossbone...s, naturally you're looking at lots of black. Once again, I'd lucked out - that was already in use for their branding, and the bright colours of the food itself created a perfect contrast to make everything pop even more. While there are 2 fonts that are used consistently in images, if there's a fun promotion like their Halloween treats for example, using an irregular font didn't look out of place because Sarah's photographic style is the familiar piece of the branding for followers. The other thing I wanted to do from the beginning was make sure all of Blackout's family were known. What started as a humble coffee shop branched out into Catering, then Cookies (@graces_cookies on IG), then Cakes and most recently, BBQ as well! She likes to keep herself busy, that woman. The last post on Saturday night will go into the things you need to commit to when taking this approach to posting.
25.01.2022 : : HAPPY CHRISTMAS : : Not gonna lie guys, it's been a big couple of weeks. But today is Christmas Day and that's allllll I need to think about today. Lexi is back to running circles around us again now, and she has already been spouting "Merry Christmas Mum" at me the past 3 days, so yeah, she's all good. haha... I hope you all have a lovely (and safe) Christmas, see ya next week.
21.01.2022 : : I BRANDING : : I wanted to give 2 examples of brands I love and why they inspire me on a daily basis! #1 esmi Skin Minerals (@esmiskinminerals on IG) Esmi is a homegrown success story straight out of the Gold Coast! Apart from adoring and recommending their skin products to anyone that will listen to me, I have always admired how put together and professional their branding is, all while having a 'voice' that is just like having a mate that tells you all about skin care... in a way that makes you enjoy it yourself! From a design perspective, considering their feed is a mix of customer photos and promotional posts for their products, everything just fits together so seamlessly. I. Love. It! #2: Furry Little Peach (@furrylittlepeach on IG) Every time a notification pops up for a new post from Sha'an d'Anthes on Instagram, my inner fangirl sings. For the uninitiated, Sha'an is an Illustrator from Sydney who creates the most gorgeous and whimsical illustrations, and as you would expect from an artist, her Instagram feed is spectacularly curated to match her style. With lots of warm tones and perfectly placed flat lays, her branding is just as recognisable as her style of illustration. #goals - - - Hopefully this week's posts have helped you understand the power of good branding. What struck you the most when you looked over their feeds? I'd love to hear your thoughts! PS. If you're looking for someone to help you out with getting some consistent styling to your social media posts now or in the future, let's chat! PPS. Do you guys think I should be adding stuff like this onto a blog on my website? Let me know.
16.01.2022 : : CASE STUDY | AKIKO STUDIOS : : The more personal your brand feels, the easier you gain trust with your clients and customers. My 'brand voice' for Akiko comes from places where you feel as though you, even if you've never physically met someone, gives you a sense of the personality behind the brand. I feel like I 'type talk' super well - if you ever speak to me in person, what you're reading is exactly what I would be saying! (minus the emojis, they're a bit hard to do at... this point). From a design perspective, personally I love triangles and lines, so naturally my business branding was likely to include them. To me, they bring a feeling of movement and direction, making them fantastic design elements to work with. I'm also slightly obsessed with my colour combo - and this is coming from someone who used to hate pink with a passion! The last post on Friday will give you a couple of brands that have really inspired me. Lessgo!
07.01.2022 : : CONSISTENT BRANDING VOL. 2 - PART III : : I used the word 'commit' in the last post, and there's a good reason for it. The thing about posting a curated format is that you need to stay consistent with it, and you also need to remember that every post creates a spread that works in threes. You can have a single row of content, two rows, three rows.. But creating that multi-post layout style means that you have some restrictions.... There will be things that come up occasionally where before you changed your post style, you wouldn't have thought twice about immediately posting. Now, you need to put a little more thought into what is being shared - the fonts, the image style, keeping everything on brand.. I can promise you this though; people will notice when your post style changes, and that's what you want! Your branding is becoming familiar, your post style is becoming familiar, and that makes you stand out! Social media is a long game, not a short one. We are so overloaded with images and our attention spans have decreased significantly, so the more consistency you create in your branding and style, the greater chance you have of keeping someone's attention that little bit longer.
04.01.2022 : : CONSISTENT BRANDING VOL. 2 - PART I : : Happy Tuesday! Last week I introduced you all to the other major service that Akiko Studios offers - social media branding. Hopefully you guys got to see how consistent branding across social posts can not only increase a brand's familiarity (and how professional you appear) to followers but it also just looks bloody awesome. ... This week is very similar in topic, but I'm going to feature one of my bloody awesome clients, Blackout Coffee and Catering! (@blackout_coffee_and_catering on IG or Blackout Coffee and Catering on FB) The next post will go into the process of creating a style for Blackout. See ya Thursday night!
