25.01.2022 Recently we bid a fond A&K farewell to our iconic Judy Harris from the Private Travel Desk, as she retires from an extraordinary career in travel. It is impossible to overstate the contribution Judy has had to A&K in her 25-year tenure. Judy has been a mentor, an inspiration, not to mention the immeasurable impact of her travel expertise on the many guests she has helped embark on incredible adventures. When asked for a particularly memorable story (as you can imagine, Judy h...as many!) she shared with us this extraordinary tale: A guest had booked a cruise in Antarctica, and because of bad weather, his flight to Ushuaia was delayed, and as he flew in, he could see the ship sailing away up the Beagle Channel. He called me in Melbourne and calmly and with the utmost sympathy I started to work on a solution. I phoned the ship and the Captain picked up the phone, and as luck would have it I had sailed with him previously as well as the Cruise Director, David, whom I knew from my own trip to the Antarctica. I explained that 2 guests had been left behind and he swung into action to arrange a 4WD to transport my clients through the Tundra to a remote Estancia at the mouth of the Beagle Channel. I kept in touch with my client giving him regular updates- by this stage he had a large whiskey in hand. Quickly and safely the guests were collected by a zodiac and a gangway was swung over the side of the ship, letting them climb up to loud applause. The next day this guest shouted champagne for all and the cruise continued as scheduled. He wrote me a lovely letter, and I did feel proud that my skills (and network of helpful friends) could support him on that dark and stormy night. Please join us in wishing Judy all the happiness the world can bring in her retirement. While Judy is irreplaceable, the decades of travel experience between our team of Journey Designers means you can rest assured that an A&K journey will always be an unparalleled luxury adventure.
24.01.2022 As Thailand opens for domestic explorations, our local team have wasted no time in getting out and about! The first stop for Destination Specialist Cholthicha Martnok was the floating market outside Bangkok: The color, the sounds, the smell of fresh papaya salad and aromatic noodles all around this floating market has great community vibes. We took a boat across the lake to take a closer look at the flowers. It was a great, fun day for the family!

19.01.2022 This is Daniele Mastrogiacomo, Travel Consultant for A&K Italy & Croatia. I recently had the chance to visit Venice and was happy to find monuments and sights open for visits, and restaurants and shops open as usual. I enjoyed a walk at Scala Contarini del Bovolo, a hidden spot in the heart of Venice. From here you can admire a great view of the city. I also went to the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, the Venetian Sistine Chapel made by Tintoretto and ended my trip with the cha...nce to see the building of a gondola! I travelled to Venice by high speed train and I felt very comfortable! Seat assignments respected social distancing and a bag with a mask, gloves, hand sanitizer and a bottle of water was provided to all passengers. --------------------- A&K Together is a series of personal stories from A&K staff in more than 55 offices around the world, sharing their own unique experiences during this time, whether from the places they call home or the places they are most looking forward to returning to. 16.01.2022 Account Manager Benjamin Dale cant wait for an out-stan-ding journey to explore The Silk Road and its iconic cities. The Stans (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan) have such a rich deep history, tied to both east and west by the Silk Road. From west to east by Marco Polo, and east to west by Genghis Khan. Mix in landscapes that could almost be considered alien in their uniqueness and this region is top of my list. 16.01.2022 Our network of luxury travel experts is full of passionate locals like Vishal, one A&Ks India Tour Guides: A journey across the continents begins with a single step. I visited the Taj Mahal on a school field trip, and havent forgotten the experience since. My home is India where layers of history, religions, languages and culture roll into one. Travel became a passion when I took that first step. I have gathered rewarding experiences & rich memories over the past 27 years... working as a Tour Guide for Abercrombie and Kent. I have enjoyed making travel a rewarding learning experience for Indias travellers from day one. My favourite moment on the trips has been to wake up to the Taj Mahal at sunrise. The soft rays glisten on the inlaid jewels as the Taj looms on the banks of Yamuna River. It was a breathtaking sight then & remains a breathtaking sight now. It remains a universally accepted concept of beauty and a testimony to the many wonders of India. - Vishal Ghai A&K India Tour Guide See more
