25.01.2022 This article is referring to mask use in USA. It could still easily be applied to all of us here when it comes to social/physical distancing and all other protocols we Have in place to protect our brother.

23.01.2022 This has some important points. Great to see something so positive about Autism. Really encourages us to value each other for a range of different strengths.

21.01.2022 For our young scientists and budding astronomers out there..

20.01.2022 Great food. Pick-up or Home Delivery. Our end of term staff lunch courtesy of Cambridge Lane after a quick phone call, and a fast pick-up by our trusty staff member. We did have to sit some 3 metres from each other while we dined before returning to our respective separated work spaces.

20.01.2022 There’s a reason that outside is good for our kids.

18.01.2022 The words of one who was once considered unteachable.... one of the worlds gifted underachievers who went on to realise that potential....

18.01.2022 Not just about IQ... we think you will find these words encouraging.... for ourselves as well as for the children in our care.

17.01.2022 Some thoughts to ponder when we consider the multiple intelligences (Howard Gardner) of our children or one or more of the Six Thinking Hats(Edward De Bono) they could wear.

14.01.2022 WE ARE ALSO ONLINE - REMOTE ACCESS In response to COVID-19, Al Roberts Education Centre is now offering Remote Access tutoring sessions! Our current primary and secondary students are moving to our tried and tested online video chat platform delivered through Google Meet.... For primary and secondary students, the technology allows us to see your child as they complete their individualised program online. Our students can also see our digital whiteboard as we guide them with verbal and written assistance. For secondary and senior students, we are able to work with them to plan and edit their assignments and show them working and answers for problems they are struggling with. If your child needs more support with their education in this difficult time, please visit our website www.alrobertstutoring.com.au to organise a complimentary assessment for your child or to enrol.

13.01.2022 One day at a time...

12.01.2022 Multiple Intelligences .. and more outside this wheel perhaps .. celebrate the differences.

11.01.2022 Cursive writing as a tool of learning in itself? ...So often students are still printing as they write even at Year 12 level.... perhaps we need to reinforce the value of cursive writing again.

11.01.2022 Thank you Phil Little for a wonderful testimonial ....... "Four of our kids have attended Al Roberts tutoring. Three have now finished Grade 12 and got excellent OP's that exceeded the estimates they were given at school. The fantastic help and support that Al and Helen gave them was a major part of this result. Our youngest son is just about to start Grade 11 and he will be attending Al Roberts for these next two crucial years. We have recommended Al Roberts tutoring to many... people as they've been so great to our family." https://alrobertstutoring.com.au/testimonials See more

08.01.2022 Change can become a little overwhelming at any time. Perhaps another perspective can offer some respite during this very challenging time when our children try to learn at home.

07.01.2022 You might be interested in this press release. There is a lot of quite fascinating research into the effect of adding subtitles to TV or video content. Benefits apply to all age-groups - even adults. One university professor found that his students gained, on average, one grade higher when he started adding subtitles to his video lectures. For our younger learners, it's even more important, of course. You'd think that struggling literacy learners would be the ones who don't pay attention to subtitles, but some very interesting eye-tracking research has shown that they're the group most likely to follow - and benefit from - subtitles. We've suggested to TVNZ and the Ministry that automatic subtitles are added to their new educational TV programmes. In the meantime, just be aware that you can switch them on yourselves. (Ros Lugg.)

06.01.2022 Encouraging our children to take responsibility is a massive part of developing resilience. This is a great visual reminder of what we can and can't take respon...sibility for, as both children and parents. Although this circle of control looks "limiting", we have to remember that our thoughts and actions always influence those around us.
