23.01.2022 The Bushfire Recovery Grants are closing on 31 July 2020! It's been heartwarming to see the land starting to recover, green shoots emerging from scorched trees and animals returning in bushfire-ravaged parts of Victoria. It's been a long road to recovery between the bushfires and Covid-19, there is still time to get extra help if you need it. ... Businesses that sustained damage during last summer’s bushfires have until the end of the month to apply for a $50,000 Small Business Bushfire Recovery Grant. The bushfire recovery grants provide support for businesses to repair and replace damaged equipment, tools, property and other assets. They can also be used to reimburse costs associated with clean-up and restoration. Across Victoria, there are 18 shires and four alpine areas which are eligible for support. If your business is located or you operate in an eligible area, you may qualify for a grant. Applications for the Small Business Bushfire Recovery Grants Victoria program close on 31 July 2020. Please be aware that Farm businesses are not eligible under this grants program. Primary producers should instead see the Emergency Bushfire Response in Primary Industries Grants on the Rural Finance website. 23.01.2022 Jobkeeper2.0 is happening. But Jobkeeper1.0 is still on the go. For Jobkeeper1.0 you need to forecast a downturn in a month to be able to claim it for your employees or yourself as a business owner. It is really important to get in touch if you forecast that you are going to have a downturn in your business turnover. Jobkeeper2.0 is based on actual turnover figures for the June and September Quarters. Here is some useful information from Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand

21.01.2022 Has your business made a tax loss this year? A tax loss is when the total deductions you can claim, excluding gifts and donations, are greater than your total income for an income year. If your business makes a tax loss, you may be able to:... If you do meet the requirements, then you can offset the loss against other assessable income (such as salary or investment income) in the same income year. If you don’t meet the requirements, you can defer the loss or carry it forward to future years. For example, you can offset it when you next make a profit. In other news! There was no change to fuel tax credit rates on 3 August. You can continue to use the current rates to calculate your claim on your business activity statement (BAS). Check how your fuel is used and make sure that you’re using the right rate. Don't forget that I can help you with your tax and I'll be posting my Business Tax blog filled with tips next week, so make sure to pop back for that!
