25.01.2022 My parents are getting slammed today with texts and emails that include versions of this photo asking is this your daughter?!. When I first mentioned my plan to help people with death stuff both of my parents had their reservations, they probably still do. But hey, thanks to @couriermail featuring me as a #ordinarypeople today Im practically famous so Mum and Dad are happily claiming me . Thanks to @yourweddingstory for suggesting me and my work to the writer of the article. Death happens - fact! And Im excited to help families explore their options and celebrate life with the same gusto people do for births and weddings.

23.01.2022 Yesterday the kiddo and I went along to Karuna House for their open day. We learnt about the history of the buildings and the wonderful palliative care they provide to families in their own homes. The staff were indeed lovely but I was blown away by the volume of volunteers the organisation had available on the day. Gi originally wasnt so keen to come along with me to a place that does death stuff but she was quickly won over buy the colourfulness of the house, warmth of the staff and volunteers and most definitely by the homemade cakes and slices.

21.01.2022 Today is Dying to Know Day. It’s a great day to get yourself thinking and planning what you would like to when it becomes your own time to say ‘see ya later alligator’. I can’t make this event today but if you can you should. Lisa from the The Bottom Drawer Book: The After Death Action Plan will be there and she is a wealth of knowledge

19.01.2022 This made me laugh!

17.01.2022 This morning I went to hang out with a gentleman Ross who came across my site on Google yesterday. Ross is getting on in his life and his health has been a bit shaky so he's decided to make plans now for how he'd like his affairs wrapped up and wants to make things easier for his son's and grandkids. The son that lives close by joined us too and I could tell that talking about his dads funeral while his dad was sitting with us was a bit weird. The weirdness didn't last for ...long though. It was decided that whenever this funeral may be (and it could be years) that it would be a party, something for the grandkids to love. There will be Irish Dancers performing because when they visit the retirement village they always bring happiness, and there will be pop music because Ross knows his teenage grandaughters love to have bop on the dance floor. The two men gave me a tour of the flash modern apartment block in the village Ross lives in. They showed me the main two function rooms for me to help them pick which would be better for dancing and partying at. Ross loves red wine and rosé, he supports the Lions and he wants his ashes scattered over Alexandra Headlands because when he was young he paddled on his surfboard from Mooloolaba to the headland. He also has a Cook Town Orchid that was given to him when he was working in North QLD as a town planner over 50 years ago and it's still growing. How lucky I was to meet Ross today.

16.01.2022 Please take the time to read this. It's crazy what the big businesses are doing and I support Choice's request for transparency and reform. There are soo many wonderful options when it comes to death and funerals but sadly most won't know what they are unless they know the right questions to ask. But hey - let's do coffee and I'll tell you what I know! https://www.choice.com.au//funerals-investigation-how-much

15.01.2022 This week I was super dooper lucky to meet Lisa, author of The Bottom Drawer Book: The After Death Action Plan for a pre midday glass of wine. I was blown away with Lisa's passion and knowledge around the funeral industry and to learn the story of how she got sent down this path of learning. I had heard about this book a couple of years ago from a fellow celeb Sarah May Alexander, Marriage Celebrant, Qld and I'm thrilled to hear that people are embracing the book as the wonde...rful resource that it is. Thank you Lisa! http://thebottomdrawerbook.com.au/index.html

13.01.2022 What did you do today? I dropped into Newhaven Funerals and Eco Memorial Park for a tour of their crematorium and to meet the team. Such a great morning. Tim (Top Dog) and his funeral directors run the family-owned business with warmth, heart and a few cheeky smiles too. Their doors are always open to visitors if you wanna take a peek. Just be sure to arrange a time first or keep a lookout for their next open day. https://www.ecomemorialpark.com.au/

12.01.2022 Ive been meaning to get my hands on a copy of The Bottom Draw Book. Love what the author has written here about funerals in Queensland

06.01.2022 Hands up if you've been in a situation to do with illness or grief and been lost for words? (my hands are up). Take a look at what Emily McDowell has created based on her own experiences. https://slate.com//empathy-cards-by-emily-mcdowell-are-gre

04.01.2022 This year Im actively seeking things that might teach me about love, life and loss. Ive heard Leigh Sales speak as a guest on various podcasts I listen too and about several topics but recently I heard her talk about her latest book #anyordinaryday and thought to myself it would be great to try and read. Try because I always fall asleep 2 sentences in. So I grabbed the audiobook!! Its a good read in general but also hosts wonderful insight for those who have loved and lost and maybe even suffered great tragedies. What shall I read next? Ps thanks fellow marriage celeb Modern Love Ceremonies for recommending it also xx

03.01.2022 I love the clever things that the chaps at our local mens shed make. Maybe they could take some inspo from their tassie brothers https://www.themercury.com.au//1d2b808da720f5390a44ffae0d8
