02.01.2022 Facebook was launched in 2004. If you're still on Facebook chances are you set your profile up sometime around 2005-2007... that's when My Space finally lost its colourful battle to the boring blue and white Facebook and became a massively popular social networking platform. Remember how joyful we all were when we could finally reconnect with the bitchy highschool mean girls after ten years, only to smirk with delight in seeing they had peaked in high school and went on to b...e the frumpy K-mart mums that looked well beyond their years. (Don't worry folks, I've well and truly had my turn at frumpy Kmart mum now). How delighted we were to share every birthday, engagement, marriage, and meal with all the people from around the world we'd lost touch with. And how amazing was it when Facebook introduced a way for us to market our businesses to our friends and family. FINALLY a FREE platform to engage people within our broad networks. FIREWORKS!!! Well my friends, those days are over. All that time Facebook was free and generously giving you the gift of connection and free advertising, it was also busy gathering your details (all of them by the way, and YES you gave them willingly). In 2012, 8 years after its inception, Facebook, with the most accurate data about our families, communities, online activity, buying habits, food preferences, holiday desires, shoe size, birthdays, ages of children did something incredible. It made us into products and monetised its platform. It created a deep-seated desire to stay connected...and then it started selling us what we wanted to buy!!! If it hasn't sunk in yet, the way Facebook makes money is by selling ads. It no longer delivers free-content to cold audiences. SO STOP STANDING ALONE IN AN EMPTY ROOM YELLING ABOUT YOUR 50% OFF SALE. Because there is no one there to listen. If you want your products and services to be seen by your buyers, you need to pay for ads and make good ones that people will stop scrolling for. While it isn't rocket science, Facebook Ads can be a minefield and you can get them very wrong and waste your dollars. After all you wouldn't build a new house with sticks you found on the side of the road...well not in the 'I'm starting a new business and want to make a good impression sense anyway' That's why the software I use for website development and hosting is the best on the market. I use WP Engine for my build and hosting environment and DIVI for creative design. The visual builder makes it easier for the client if they want to take over the management ...(ahem, destruction) of the site once it is built. Remember, with me, you get what you pay for. I am not the cheapest, I do not fall into the 'can someone recommend a website designer that doesn't cost an arm and a leg' category but I also can't build you a 'simple' website for $500...although if you're interested I can recommend someone who can. My designs and high quality, original, thought through function, fast and beautiful.
