18.01.2022 Posted on: 17 August, 2020 Boiled water alert lifted for Jindabyne water supply Snowy Monaro Regional Council advises all residents in Jindabyne, Leesville, Lakewood, The Station Resort and High Country that tap water is now SAFE to consume and use.... There is no longer a public health concern over the quality of drinking water and it is now considered safe for all typical uses including drinking, preparing food and beverages, personal washing, dishwashing and laundry purposes. Snowy Monaro Regional Council has worked closely with NSW Health to resolve this situation. The turbidity in the drinking water has returned to normal levels and will continue to be closely monitored. Residents should flush out water from the pipes in their home (ie. leave the tap running for 5-10 minutes) before first use. Please share this information with other people who drink this water, especially anyone who may not get this notice directly. For more information visit: www.snowymonaro.nsw.gov.au or phone 1300 345 345. Council thanks residents for their patience and for boiling their water.

10.01.2022 BOIL WATER NOTICE JINDABYNE - please note effective immediately. Recent wet weather conditions have caused increased turbidity making drinking water in the Jind...abyne, Leesville, Lakewood, The Station Resort and High Country unsafe to drink unless boiled. NSW Health has advised us to issue a boil water alert. This will be in place for several days until we notify otherwise. This alert does NOT apply to East Jindabyne, Tyrolean Village, Kalkite or Berridale. Water used for drinking or food preparation should be brought to a rolling boil to make it safe. Kettles with automatic shut off switches can do this. Water should then be allowed to cool and stored in a clean container with a lid and refrigerated. Bottled water or cool boiled water should be used for drinking, washing uncooked food (eg. salad vegetables and fruit), making ice, cleaning teeth, gargling and pet’s drinking water. Dishes should be washed in hot soapy water or in a dishwasher. Children should take bottled water or cool boiled water to school. 09.01.2022 Weekend is looking good! I

06.01.2022 We had 5cm of snow overnight! A little taste of winter in spring.

03.01.2022 Due to COVID-19 restrictions and health considerations, there can no longer be consideration of informal camping around Jindabyne. Effective Monday 17 August 2...020, camping within Jindabyne, Tyrolean Village, East Jindabyne and Kalkite will be regulated. There will be no camping in carparks, streets, reserves and the lake foreshore and new signage will reflect this. There will also be no stopping from 8pm 6am at the Claypits Carpark. Whilst the Claypits Carpark is not a formal campground, it is currently operating as one. Under the Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order (No 4) 2020, a COVID-safe plan is required for a camping ground. There is no ability to provide a COVID-safe plan for the Claypits as a camping ground. It is not possible for the Claypits to satisfy the requirements of a COVID-safe plan under the Public Health Order and therefore Council is obligated to introduce these regulations. We have assessed alternatives and liaised with other NSW Councils on this. This has included paid permit systems but the current solution is to close off this area to any overnight parking. The current volume of use has affected the public perception of the amenities and foreshore in particular, which is having a negative impact on a town whose tourism business levels have already been affected by bushfire, ongoing drought, snow season uncertainty and COVID-19. The costs associated with cleaning and waste have dramatically increased with the influx of informal campers. Council thanks those campers who had been trying to keep the site clean and had been taking their rubbish to the landfill to lessen the impact. No informal camping will be available for the remainder of this year (2020) and Council will further consider regulations after that. Police and Rangers will patrol these areas and issue infringement notices. Fines will be in place for people failing to comply with the new signage that states no camping. https://www.snowymonaro.nsw.gov.au/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=837 Image by Darren Cue.
