24.01.2022 Life drawing. Pastel on paper. Life model Ileana. A longer duration drawing in red pastel reflecting the warmth, passion yet serene humanity of the model. Good fun trying to master the challenge of foreshortening. Looking at it with fresh eyes, I should have drawn her foot a tad larger!

16.01.2022 Life drawing. Charcoal on paper. 4 x 5 minute drawings. Life model Ileana. Good to be back drawing from life after a short break. I was a bit concerned I may have lost my drawing skills! These quick drawings are great loosening up, warm up exercises and sometimes turn out to be the best for the session - fresh, expressive, spontaneous.

10.01.2022 Life drawing. Water soluble graphite on paper. Life model Ileana. Last drawing for the night. In case you haven’t noticed from my previous posts, I love drawing with water soluble graphite! A sculptor friend suggested using both hands to draw. So I use a wide, wet brush in my dominant hand and graphite in the other. Great fun and a good way to finish the life drawing session.
