25.01.2022 STIRLING STRUGGLES While the flora regeneration is well under way at the Stirling Range National Park, local businesses are struggling to spring back to their ...feet, with few visitors since the bushfires tore through the area six weeks ago. Stirling Range Drive, Mt Magog, Mt Hassell and Mt Talyuberlup reopened to the public earlier this month but other attractions, including the Bluff Knoll trail, could remain shut for another four months. Earlier this week, DBCA Kimberley Region deployed a team of five people to help speed up recovery efforts. Meanwhile, local business owners have banded together to appeal the public to support their small fire-ravaged community.

18.01.2022 EMU POINT BREWERY Dune Brewing Company will receive a $150,000 State Government grant to develop a family friendly microbrewery and restaurant at Emu Point. T...he brewery would incorporate a nature walk featuring the history and culture of the Menang Noongar people. It would be run by Kate Marwick, the owner of Emu Point Cafe. "A building that artfully reflects the connection Albany has between land and sea, grounds sculptured by the dunes and wetlands. A venue that celebrates and integrates our rich natural history and modern coastal life," the project brief says.

"Founded in the 70s around the same time as neighbouring Margaret River, the Great Southern region has struggled to gain recognition like that of its celebrated sister region.
