20.01.2022 As you may or may not be aware, the ACF are long time champions of Foodbank WA and the amazing support they offer to communities in need. However during the recent COVID-19 lockdown period there have been more than a handful of local business pitching in with financial and produce donations to Rod and the amazing volunteer team at Foodbank Albany. 18.01.2022 Sadly this years Homeless Sleep Out wont be happening due to COVID related factors and mainly due to the fact that most of our major Support Agencies who normally bolster up the Sleep Out are currently experiencing a very different quarter compared to this time last year. We dont want to pull them away from what they do best or stretch them in these times of new demand and assistance required. Therefore our aim this #homelessnessweek2020 is advocacy and awareness. 18.01.2022 We are always humbled by the amazing contributions that our community make to the Foundation, but there are some days we are just blown away by peoples generosity. This week we had a donation of $10,000 from a single donor who recieved COVID-19 stimulus funding from the ATO and felt others who were less fortunate could make better use of it. Our recent article in the Great Southern Weekender was well timed to help them make their mind up about finding a home for it and the... only request was that 50% went to the Foodbank Amnesty Appeal, which means that the appeal has now raised over $10,000 since March. Not everyone can assist on this scale, and it doesnt matter what size or shape your donation comes in, you get the same feel good feeling knowing you have made a difference in someones life. 15.01.2022 FOODBANK SURPLUS FOOD AMNESTY DAY 3 In a time when our news cycles are getting shorter and the restrictions getting greater, one thing hasnt changed... and that is peoples need to survive. To survive these testing and trying times we need to see community compassion at the forefront of everything we do. There are already several businesses in town committing to assist, as they close their doors theyre opening their hearts (and pantrys) to see what they can give to Foodbank... Albany Donations do not need to be physical food. You can provide cash relief, no matter what size the amount it will all help. Merrifield Real Estate & GM Taxation & Accounting have both kicked off the financial aspect of the Food Amnesty today with matching donations of $1000 each. This equates to 4000 meals worth of food that Foodbank can now order in. Even if you cannot donate because you are self isolating or high risk, thats okay! Liking and sharing this post will get the information out to the community far and wide, and your share might mean someone else donates. 13.01.2022 It was cold this morning at Spencer Park. I think everyone was all snuggled down under their blankets as we only had about 20 people through. Working with Salva...tion Army, we are now able to offer boxed cereals, tea, long life milk and tins of peaches for people to take away. We have started having tea and coffee available again and this morning we had vegetable soup. Tomorrow down at the Old Gaol we have pumpkin soup Still have The Muffin Queens famous muffins, loads of fruit and yoghurts See more

Some people are still planning to stay home.... thats okay. Be kind. Some are still scared of getting the virus and a second wave happening....thats okay. Be kind. Some are sighing with relief to go back to work knowing they may not lose their business or their homes....thats okay. Be kind. Some are thankful they can finally have a surgery they have put off....thats okay. Be kind. Some will be able to attend interviews after weeks without a job....thats okay. Be kind. Some will wear masks for weeks....thats okay. Be kind. Some people will rush out to get the hair or nails done.... thats okay. Be kind. Some people may have lost a loved one either here or overseas and could not say goodbye in person, so they are still dealing with grief..... thats okay. Be especially kind The point is, everyone has different viewpoints/feelings and thats okay. Be kind. We each have a different story. If you need to stay home, stay home. But be kind . If you need to go out, just respect others when in public and be kind! Dont judge fellow humans because youre not in their story. We all are in different mental states than we were months ago. So remember, be kind. And if in doubt, BE KIND

Despite COVID causing a massive dent in their businesses when we first approached Simon about the event the very first thing he did was to offer his charter service free of charge as he sees the value in what we do. Additional helpers just for one day are Amanda in the hoodie and Angela from Rainbow Coast Neighborhood Centre.
