18.01.2022 Hello Gents, I am pleased to open the registrations for the Phoenix Masters 2017 - A Round Robin Badminton Tournament (Indians Only) When - 22nd July 2017 (Saturday)... Where - Sky Badminton, Logan (Exclusive Badminton Courts). Address: Unit B2, 116 118 Wembley Road, Logan Central, QLD 4114. Entry is through Leichhardt St. Grades - G1 and G2 Format - Mens Doubles only Tournament Style - Round Robin where each team plays every other team in the group. Cost - $20 per player We are looking to have a maximum of 16 teams in G1 and 16 teams in G2 for the tournament. Considering the Round Robin format of the tournament, each team will get to play every other team in its group. We propose to have 2 groups in G1 and 2 groups in G2, 8 teams per group. Some very important points about the tournament that we can't stress enough: 1) We are running this tournament with hardly any sponsors, using the best badminton courts available in Brisbane and not to mention, hopefully, the best possible badminton shuttlecocks. 2) Time is money - we are only hiring the courts for 6 hours with a possibility of a slight extension, so being on time for play is the top most priority for all of us. Not being on time is losing out on games and points. 3) Considering the number of teams registered, each game will be conducted for 21 or 25 points. 4) Semi-Finals and Finals will be for 3 sets of 21 points. 5) G1 group - B graders, G2 group C graders. We would like to make the tournament as 'evenly competitive' as possible. 6) Food - BYO. Water bottles will be sold just to contribute towards the tournament costs. We are hiring 4 courts and each group will get to play in their respective court for all 7 (or lesser ) matches. Ideally, if you play one game, you will get to wait for the next 2 or 3 games to complete before you go on to play your next game.
