23.01.2022 It was great to perform a golf assessment on Robert in Wednesday This involves assessing the body’s range of motion and strength specifically required to complete a full golf swing Swing faults can be related to technique but sometimes the player just cannot perform the movements required. This leads to compensatory movements occurring. Robert is keen to play more golf with better results. I started him on drills to improve his rotation through the hitting zone as well as s...trengthening the core muscles to allow him to maintain his spine angle tilt throughout the swing It was a very rewarding session. Robert will look to see a golf professional to assist with swing mechanics very soon as well See more

23.01.2022 To stretch or not to stretch. That is the question. At Albany Creek Physiotherapy we advocate that sports participants perform a thorough warm up that is sports specific. We do not advise that long hold stretching be part of the warm up. We often see patients who have sustained a soft tissue injury playing sport and do not know why it has occurred. A recent young male patient we saw who had reduced flexibility due to being in an adolescent growth phase had been given alot of stretches by another health professional. He tore his hip flexor before an AFL game due to the fact he was stretching for 20 minutes before the game. The takeaway message is warm up slowly and progressively and don't do any/ if none at all- long hold stretching before you play sport.

17.01.2022 Another year Another bike fit It was great to spend time today performing a cycling specific screening assessment followed by analysing Stefans position on the bike You have to connect the body type to the demands of the cycling postures Stefan left with a couple of small changes to his set up.... The real intervention was setting up an off the bike strength program. This will really help his performance and niggly pains that can arise from cycling If you would like to book a physio bike fit call 32643244 See more

06.01.2022 Neck Pain - pain in the neck is one of the conditions we treat the most. It is probably becoming more common as we spend more time on computers and smart phones Necks can refer pain ( you feel elsewhere as well as the neck) into the head as well as to the shoulder blade and arm Common causes are poor sleeping positions, incorrect sitting posture and stress/anxiety. There are numerous other causes. I have listed a few simple suggestions that might help your neck pain 1. Alway...s sit with your head directly on your shoulders not in front or down 2. Sleep with enough pillows to maintain straight alignment of your spine. This can be on your side or back- generally not on your stomach 3. Maintain good mobility of the thoracic spine- the area below the neck If you or your family member have neck pain we are ready to help. We treat it very regularly and are very successful in giving long term relief and strategies to stop a reoccurrence Call us on 32643244 or book online at www.albanycreek physiotherapy.com.au See more
